I use to live in Oregon. What part are you in? And I would deal with the heat and amount of fun I get to have now vs always being rained on. Like they said its dry. In the middle of summer down here I would ride my motorcycle in 115 degree weather with 185 degree engine between my legs. I didn't mind it till the traffic started.

Yupp it's really not that bad, and HOV lanes in phoenix = no motorcycle traffic

When I had a bike I would also just soak my shirt before leaving, impromtu AC

I do ride, can't wait to ride and not be cold. I live in Medford which is right above the CA border. Deep valley, so days of fog this time of year. In the summer has several days 95+ degrees. Nobody has mentioned culture there. Oregon has very little. Well my part anyways. Lots of narrow minded "rednecks" here. I'm into dirt riding as well. It will just be and my 13 year old son. So will be asking for lots of info on camping, riding, hiking. Just fun things to do. I will miss some things about life here. Mostly friends I think. Going to be hard to replace 20+ year friendships. Can always make new ones.

The housing is so affordable there. Unless I look in Scottsdale. Wow. Will have to settle for the outskirts for now.

I'm not concerned about the heat at all. I have ac in my truck. So will my house. Thanks for the replies. Your enthusiasm about the area excites me even more. I feel like I'm 9 and Christmas is tomorrow.

    Is lane splitting/sharing legal?

Nice I was up in the Portland area. But lots of fishing camping riding etc to do here. And lots of friends to be made. Now that I think of it most of my good friends I met here on tw. Lots of really good guys and gals. Avoid Scottsdale. You dont want anything to do with that place hahaha. Personally I lived in Avondale Peoria Glendale and surprise. Now I'm located up in the mountains about 3 hours away (wanted to be close to the ski resort)

Lane splitting is illegal. And you will even have some a ssholes open car doors on you. People get pissed off.

While I'd never open a car door on somebody doing it... I find lane splitting / sharing to be dangerous and overly aggressive.... and also a good way to get into an accident.

Agreed! I dont lane split. Just all around adding more danger to a already dangerous (yet really fun) activity.

Proper lane splitting at less than 20mph im near stopped traffic is fine. It's the people doing it at 80mph in dead stopped traffic....

Like the guys in California. Blows my mind seeing how fast they split. And they tell us our helmet laws are crazy.

I've only had a chance to lane split when I rode in California. Felt reasonably safe to me. I wasn't hauling ass though either. Not a deal breaker either way. Was just curious.

I've been looking in Avondale...well, all over at housing. First I need to get myself there. Think I will rent an apartment for awhile and scope the place out and find what suits our needs.

Good to hear about friends being easy to obtain. Haven't really had to look for new friends as an adult, haha. Kind of funny to think about. Looking forward to meeting some of you..

Truer words have never been spoken. On the down side of having a bunch of awesome friends from tw is you spend allot more money on mods. So by moving to az you will probably end up having a super charged long traveled truck.
