got a macbook pro

Just got a macbook pro last night. first computer thats a mac, so im still getting used to how it operates. while i was at it picked up iWork 09 and a 1 yr mobileMe. Any of yall use mac's, good/bad. also whats some good photoediting software for it? I'm thinking about getting Paint.net download for it until i buy arperture or Photoshop.

 

yeah i've been toying around with it all day, so far I love it. I just wish I had my internet set up for it bc i hate using internet explorer. I've got Paint.net on this pc( dell desktop) and it works really well for a free download.

 

i got a reg MacBook. iPhoto has some things to edit photos. I think macs are in some ways easier to use than windows based pc's

 

nice! I have a pro too. you'll never go back to a pc. in the top right corner of your screen there is an icon that looks kinda like )))) but they face up. anyways, that's your internet, if there is wireless internet around you that is not secured you can just click the network and there you go...internet!

there are a lot of hot keys with mac that make it really fast and easy to use, you can change them to what ever key you'd like too. for instance, my fn (function) key brings up all of my windows at the same time, i think factory setting is f9.

oh and you should be able to get an older version of photoshop for free on the net, just remember when you download files they need to be in .dmg format

 

mac book rocks! if you can fish out 1000 dollars for adobe photoshop cs4 i would if you are really into editing and what not.. download a 30 day trial from the website.. i wish i had a cd key to use so i can use it again. Mac books and macs are great. the only downside is for some reason they dont come with photo or picture editing software like paint??? or mind just didnt?

other than that they are easy to use once you get the hang of all the keys and shortcuts and no viruses! enable your spaces and learn how to use that also. it can be helpful for work, school, etc...

 

yeah i know what your talking bout but i dont have a wifi network at my house, but the school i'll be going to does.

 

yeah i love the safari on my ipod touch, so im hoping the macbooks safari is better than I.E. bc today I.E. kept telling me that the links were broken so i couldnt get online for the longest time.

Congrats. Mac rules. I got Power Mac G3 since 1997, it's old but it got some work done.

 

Welcome to the club. I'm still working on learning them. My wife has a Mac AirBook and my MacMini will be showing up at my place any day now...

Cna't wait to start playing with that and really setting it up.

 

i wouldnt want the MB air, too small for me. Now the MacMini is the insanely small CPU desktop thing right?

 

The wife totes a whole backpack to work...so the smallness meant the backpack wasn't so large.

Yeah...The mini is about 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches by 2 inches...super energy efficient and a pretty powerful computer machine.

 

You can't go wrong with firefox. IE sucks, and safari was never really for me. But if you like safari on the iphone, it should be pretty similar.

 

I use Safari on my window laptop right now...and I can't wait to get my mini configured...cause it'll be safari on there too. I used firefox for a while back in the day and never really liked it. Seems like it might be a bit more functional now- but I'm resist change like a mo-fo

 

Mac attack o yeah it dominates over pc....wanna see something cool on your mac press control, option, comand, and f8 all at the same time!

 

I hear you. I've been using firefox since about the day it came out, on both my mac and pc's. And to tell the truth the only time i've used safari was to download firefox. I'm just like you, change ain't no fun. I might have to give it a go one of these days, I just might find out what this change stuff is.

it inverts the screen lol u gotta hold all four buttons down at the same time, this is on a new macbook but im sure it works on other models too... control+option+command+8
