Went to charleston this weekend to meet up with a local fabricator to get a bed rack made over my bestop. The outcome was beautiful.

I'll place my RTT on top when I get home later today. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

    Looks good! How much $$??

Not to rain on your parade, but take a little while to get used to the weight of the tent up that high. I built mine a little shorter than yours; going to be cutting it down a foot or so. Hate how the truck handles with that amount of weight up high.. I like how yours goes over your Bestopper, I found with mine that in high winds the ass end of the truck would be deflected a lot. Drove in 50 MPH winds out in North Dakota a few weeks ago - almost shit my pants a few times.

The rack looks good, especially over the soft topper. But I'll agree iffy with that amount of weight that high

Right now I'm getting 14.5. Stock with the s/c was 18-23 between city and highway.

I average about what you do between city and highway. I'm a tad heavier than you and running 4.88's. If I could get my foot out of the throttle around town maybe I could get more than 12-13mpg in the city. haha I pull about 17-18mpg on the interstate doing 75mph.

I am surprised I still pull that good honestly. Pretty sure when I get boost I can kiss my mileage goodbye for sure... haha

No doubt, I'm honestly thinking I'll improve MPG's when I jump to 315's due to lower RPM's.

Possibly. I run about 2700rpm at 75mph on my 33's. On the same tire but jumping from 3.73's to 4.88's my mileage wasn't really affected at all, but I'm also not boosted so my motor isn't working to spin that blower.

I paid a little over 400 said and done. It was done by a local and i was the prototype so i got a discount. :)

i had my tent sitting on my OEM roof rack for a couple weeks and it was alright, i didn't ever turn quickly, just back and forth highway miles and it def got caught it in the wind, i got the yakima with the wind fairing in hopes of remedying the wind problem but we'll see when i drive about 200 miles back to school today.

Thanks! only 1 of 3 on TW with this setup (Nat and Sytfu510 are the others)

Feels good to be apart of a close group of people

No build thread yet. Just bought the truck in late November. Been so busy researching shopping and installing don't have much time left. Just installed 3 drawers yesterday, mounted the fridge to a roller floor today. Time to relax and watch the playoffs.

I emailed ARB re: If they were going to produce a snorkel for the 2014 Tacoma. They said there wasn't enough of a market yet. I agree though the Safari looks better than the Airflow. What year is your truck?
    Thanks

A small handful of select mods.
One thing to note that I have observed. The Airflow snorkel appears to be allowing too much water in to the air filter causing people to stop and dry out the filter. I personally have never observed this issue with the Safari snorkel.

Don't know if this is just accidental or if this is a possible drawback to the larger hood and tubing on the airflow.
