Proof that most things should be enjoyed in moderation... :p

But if you really want smooth I'd suggest Oban 14yr Talisker 10yr or Cragganmore 12yr old single malt scotches. :proposetoast:

I've been nursing a Talisker Single Malt 10 year old, in the last week and I must say I'm not even somewhat impressed. Can't beat the smoothness of Crown Royal for the price.

Have you tried a splash of water to open it a bit? Scotch whiskeys and even more so single malts aren't for everyone and especially among the single malts you have to find the ones that suit you. I tend to like the highland scotches which have a lot less peat and are usually a bit less smokey than their lowland cousins.

Crown Royal is an fantastic blended whisky irrelevant of it's price. But speaking of price... Last summer when I came home from visiting my parents I picked up two 1.14L bottles at the duty free shop. It was on sale for $25 a bottle and $5 off the second bottle!

Roland, would that be the NH State liquor mart on I95?....When my buddies and I go down to see the Patriots every year we make a stop there and the boys drop some cash.....Incidently contrary to your obvious appreciation for fine drink,Couchie seems to be more of a take a big smash out of a bottle wrapped in a paper bag then wipe your mouth on your sleeve kind of guy.

My wife adds water or ginger ale to whiskey. When she wanted to do the same with the Talisker, I told her that would be a criminal offense in some countries. I like single malts neat but this one is nasty so I add one ice cube instead of the water. I've been preserving a Glengoyne single malt 12 year old bottle for almost 10 years, unopened for a special occasion. The last time I checked the bottle was worth $150.

I hate you for being able to buy 1.14L CR's so cheap. They sell for $60 here. Booze is very expensive here and people still find the money to get pissed.

It was the Duty Free shop on the Canadian side of the Canada/US border. My parents have a summer cottage in Longue-Rive Quebec. It's next to the St Lawrence and overlooks one of the largest salt marshes in North America.

I do make a trip to the HN tax free store a couple times a year they have good prices on Bourbons but you still have to pay the federal taxes.

I realize that ND is drinking for maximum impact but it's fun for me to try to get people to expand their horizons.

Holy crap!!! i had absolutely no recolection of posting last night until i read this post this morning, then it all came flooding back! i can barely read what i posted. although for the record i am full of sexyness and muscle, that part was accurate.

Roland, i am no stranger to the "finer" whisky/scotches. i like a good scotch but i can only take so much. the smokey flavor becomes too much after a while. For a while i use to drink alot of Glenfidich and Glenmorangie (sp) 12 year. Also a huge fan of Single Barrel Jack. But i just discovered Jameson and i love it. extremely smooth and good for the price. I think alot of scotches are overrated. Johnny Walker Blue for example, is not even close to being worth the $200 price tag. That litter of Jameson was sitting in my room for a while and i killed half of itlast night. i didnt even realize it till it was gone. then the posting began....

i very rarely get hangovers, if i did i probably wouldn't drink as much. i only get hangovers if i am more drunk than last night, and get less sleep. For example, i am sure i'll be hungover during the Carolina Meet since i have a feeling nobody will let me sleep in

I hope you didn't hook up with any chics at the bar last night man. If you don't remember typing this I could only imagine what the chic looked like that you went home with.
