X 2... I started typing a long winded reply about not carrying anything, in particular airway stuff...

But I'm just gonna agree with you. Liabilty. We live in a litigious society.

negative. Like mitch said...first IMO its a liability.

And I live/work in a fairly urban setting, a unit is never more than 10-15 ETE. So what I am going to try and accomplish isn't worth trying really.

If anything, I would have a CAT tourniquet or some simple BLS stuff in a bug out bag. But nothing ALS.

    To much
If im not a work, the only thing that is in my POV is my full airway roll, and no i would never use it outside of work.

i simply have it due to that fact i like using my own equipment, i got it right when i got outta school, was kind of a "gift" to myself i guess. i know it works and i know the bag like the back of my hand. goes on the truck at 6AM and comes off the truck at 6AM..

liability is the sole reason for me not to work on people outside of work and especially out of my county. love my job and all, but i worked to hard for my medic license to lose it to some idiot wanting a free ride.

Santa Clara has at least one confirmed death and four or five confirmed cases.

True, but was it like a 90 Y/O Immuocompromised, 60 year chain smoker who already had pneumonia and half a lung?

Not really. Sucks but I've been sicker before. Worse thing is the aches and fever.

Generally that's the ones who die from it. Or some tard without a mask goes and breathes on a Premie. "Baby Dies!"

They put up a graphic on the news today that gave the number at 14 flu related fatalities for the Bay Area. That's a lot more than I thought.

14 elderly died this week instead of next week? Shit. Tough beans.

I'd be interested to see the stats on pneumonia related deaths. Bet it's far more than 14.

All that being said. Get your damn flu shot people!!!

They weren't all elderly. There was a 30yo in the mix as well as others.

So far south eastern PA hasn't been hit too bad, just a few inpatients and most of those have been for post viral pneumonia

I think some areas have been hit pretty hard.

Not going to argue about getting flu shots; there's those that should definitely get them and then there's those who have the luxury of deciding if the general recommendations apply to them... but right now the effectiveness of this year's vaccination is in question.
