I found it easier to put something in between my fingers and the fishing line, like a cloth. Fishing line hurts after a couple emblems lol. And a sawing motion works better than just straight up trying to pull it through.

A nice deep plum sounds like a color that would off-set the all black of the paint. I would personally suggest against that color for the calipers and such. In theory it sounds good, but in reality, they always seem to make the truck look strange. I would suggest flat or gloss black for the calipers and drums. Just my opinion though.

x2 plum on the emblem but leave the calipers or go black on them.

I suppose you can always try doing the work yourself, and there's the professional option if you don't like the results.

I've seen bright colors on Corvette and other race car calipers. It does get attention. But your wheels are black, so it might detract. It's a good thing to try with photoshop first, particularly if you get the emblems to work and can use that color as a sample.

Otherwise, dark plumb and black might also look good with this emblem:

Is off-setting a bad term? I've seen red on black and I think it's a bit too bright for black. Black on red is a different story. I was thinking a darker purple would go well with black...blend in better than red, but give a little color at the same time.

oregon girl, first off, the truck looks great...but i'm in the same camp as"bamatoy",flat or gloss black would be a better choice on the calipers.maybe "prius/corolla drivers" might not notice it,but you can be sure that tacoma freaks will notice it right off the bat and crown it"cool"!

Lol ok. It was my first choice, along with flat black emblems. Help me out with my decision with the emblems!!! It's driving me insane.

Here's some advice for you...It's GOOD to sit and think about what you want to do to your rig. Take your time and do it right the first time. Look at other trucks and take ideas from them. Plan it out and do it right (Hasty decision making doesn't always lead to good outcomes). You're on the right track

You have very early discovered what took many YEARS to figure out. lol.

Off-setting may have been a vague term. Think "complimentary colors" In this application it is a bit of personal preference of course. For instance I LIKE to contrast between red and black. The contrast is just right. But that is a personal preference. I will admit that a nice plum color would contrast really nice with the black. I am thinking like a brandywine red (which is just like plum) would be really nice.

Very good point. Take the time to ask for information, and to determine what YOU like. Remember that this IS your truck, OP. Not everyone will like it, but then again, they don't drive it, you do!

As for your emblems, I personally think either removing them totally, or going with a flat black would look good. HOWEVER, if you like the plum, it will make a nice dark contrast that will look good. Take a couple of pictures of your truck. Some good ones from front and sides. Then do a search on here for the keyword "Photoshop" and select the option for thread titles only. You can then post pictures of your truck, and what you want to try (for example a plum color for the emblems) and the MANY Photoshoppers here will convert your image to a Photoshopped conversion and you can actually SEE what it will look like before you even open a can of paint!

If you want your truck to be unique and get attention, go with plum.

Lots of people seem enamored of black. The blacking out of headlights and tail lights is starting to make me nervous. I see accidents occur because drivers don't understand the intent of other drivers. Blacking out safety signals seems to be counter-productive in a vehicle.

I do not want to black out the headlights or tail lights. I do want to smoke them though, and I very we'll could leave the signals etc unsprayed. Thanks for your opinion on the plum. :)

What did you decide to do on the color scheme?
