Finally finish this mod this morning. Never seen anyone done it to a Taco before(if someone else did, then hey kudos to them). Goes well along side the Pop and Lock PL8540 combo kit that I installed last week. Got the idea to add this to the Taco when I saw a vid on YT of a Tundra that had done the mod. I'm a newbie when it comes to wiring and electrical, so it took a while for me to learn how to program the PAC TR-7. Only the down side to this is the half ass design of the DeeZee easy tailgate down kit that I had to get so the tailgate won't slam down(I'm pretty sure everyone already knows the flaws about the kit) there's no other kit that I'm aware that can be used besides these.

I know some will say, stop being lazy and man handle it physically blah blah blah. Yah I could that, the mod doesn't interfere with the normal use of the tailgate.

Just put yourself in a scenario. You go to Home Depot, you come out with a loaded kart, lumber, supplies and what not. As your walking to your Taco, bam key fob unlock action. And you'll be the envy of every other truck driver out there hahaha :D

What do you guys thing. Like it, or hate it

    With key FOB.

Can also open tailgate from inside the cab.

not for me. but if you have your hands so full of stuff like the scenario you gave, how are you going to mess with a key fob?

Most people, when their arms are full of stuff, they still have their keys in their hands. I can see the use for this mod.

    Thanks guys.

Don't really need to do a write up on this. But I could put up what parts I used, and the thread I read up to do this mod. If you got question(s) let me know.

Got all the parts from eBay.
-2 lock actuator. I used the DEI 524N 2-wire actuators. Came with the wiring that I end up using from the tailgate to the cab.
    -1 PAC TR7 module.
-12V bosh style relay and socket.

You're gonna also need the DeeZee easy down tailgate kit. Keeps your tailgate from slamming down. Also got this from eBay. If you read up on this kit, everyone know that it's a half ass design for the Taco. But I had no choice this was the only kit that'll work.

If you still have your stock handle without the fancy pop and lock tailgate lock/unlock like I have, then you're going to have to program the PAC TR7 module differently then what I did.

Here's the thread that I read.
    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/ex...y-remote-tailgate-release-factory-remote.html

Wiring diagram. Ignore the actuator on the left. That's the lock/unlock mod for the Tundra. Follow the one on the right. Pretty self explanatory on how it's wired up. Can't get any easier then that. I ended up just running one wire up to the cab, by connecting the other actuator positive wire to that one wire. Also did the same for the ground wire, and grounded it on the frame.
    d402976fe9f8be1deb77bfc6d8a325b2_zps1523_46d537035691bf02efbe8efce199714cbc2d1a35.jpg

    Here's how I program the TR7 module.

Turn TR 7 on...then!!! apply Constant 12 volts to Red wire.
Ground the Black wire. (You will want this 12 volts and ground wires permanent, if you loss 12volts to it you will need to reprogram. Unless you make a mistake. Disconnect positive and start all over)
Tap Brown wire 14 times to ground, make sure you see led light each time you tap the wire to ground.
Led light will flash 14 times
After seeing led light 14 times tap Brown wire to ground 3 times or however many times you want your keyless remote to open the tailgate. I did three.
Led light will flash 3 times wait 3-5 seconds.
Tap Brown wire to ground rapidly 3 times
Wait for 2 flashes another 2 flashes and then a solid 3 second flash.
    Turn TR7 off.
Connect Blue wire to relay and you are set.

Since the Tundra's tailgate is completely different from the Taco, mounting of the actuator will be different. I forgot to take a pic of this, but I'll get some tomorrow and put it up. I'll also get some pic of the wire that I tapped into for the constant 12V power.

Like I said I'll get some pic tomorrow so you'll have an idea on how it looks.
