That support was to dissipate the energy created by the bumpstop off the top and transfer it into the bottom instead of just bending the top plate. It doesnt need to be 90' for that purpose, it is a gusset not the actual integrity, the integrity comes from the 1/4 inch of plating on each side of the arm so 1/2 inch of plating along with that lateral gusseting along with boxing of the bottom creates a very strong structure, i broke a bumpstop in half yesterday and broke off the bolt holding it in, the arms didnt budge. Strong as hell.

You used the word triangulated, so where is that? Or like I said your just throwing the word around without knowing what it means. What you don't realize is that gusset is 90* to the force you intended (bump stop), but it is not 90* to the outer walls to keep the whole arm from wanting to twist. You need to look at things on more than one plane, or in 3D. Look at it this way, you put your gusset like this "I" because its stronger than "/" right? Then why didnt you also make it like this "><" instead of one piece so its strong in more than one plane? You may have sustained one impact that broke a rubber bump stop, congratulations, but a flaw doesn't always fail immediately. You can continue to argue with everyone here and produce shit or you can take some criticism and actually progress

He will clearly never take any advice.. In his young, underdeveloped mind, he knows more than everyone else with ten times the experience..

Kid, your work is neither safe, nor structurally sound, end of story. Your use of the term 'triangulation" doesn't match up with the explanation of your work, further showing that you do in fact not have the slightest clue as to what you are doing..

But if you insist on continuing your quest to build home made dog shit, do so at your discretion, and please do not try to sell, or pawn off your work onto some unsuspecting buyer..

Yeah the >< would be stronger, and a few smaller 90 degree triangles (horizontaly) (true triangulation) would have better enforced the arms to resist the twisting forces, but in my very humbled opinion, i do not think enough for will ever be generated to twist a half inch of plating and boxing, i could be wrong and it may tho, in which case ill restart and take your advice (which is good advice). Im not arguing with anyone on here. Most of these guys have no idea what they are talking about, they see welds that arnt pretty and stacked and immediately think ill doom the earth with my fabbing. When in reality those welds all penetrated, i posted a picture, and are all strong. I agree i could have done it better. But they are working beautifully so far and i am not easy on them. I made this thread to show other people it is possible to build this kinda stuff in your garage with simple tools. But i guess if it isnt 4130 tig welded and heat treated then all the lifted truck never fabbed a damn thing in their life bros flip tits. Crf250 you seem to know what your talking about, and i love that kind of advice and criticism. Because its educated and helpful, exactly what this thread and all garage fabbers need. Not a buncha wannabes with lifted trucks thinking their cool cause they can call someone elses hard work shit over the internet.

Holy fuck man, it seems that you may actually be listening to some advice. You don't have to have the most aesthetically pleasing welds, it's about strength in design. Don't be a douche when you post your death fab shit to the internet, take some advice, and learn. Quit being so god damned obstinate and let something sink in.

Are you high? People (not just internet fabbers) have been trying to help you since your first thread and you just shit on everyone's advice. Learn some fucking humility.

Pretty sure most of us that are talking about your design flaws have been there and have do that. (well... maybe not "that") sooooo unless you're sure about something don't assume people don't know what they are talking about.

Also when fabbing from scraps, make it strong enough, then times that by ten.
