When I pulled my light bar off, I had to use the poor man's impact wrench. Box wrench and a rubber mallet... Worked like a charm albeit a little slow :D

Hit it with a torch to heat it up and loosen the bolt before you impact it. They will still shear with an impact gun. I learned that one with my tow hooks I didn't think I would shear a half inch grade 8 bolt. That was not very fun to drill out.

I'm a Welker fan from back when he was with the Dolphins. I will say though that I don't think that I have ever heard Belichick call out a player for doing a dirty play like he did to Welker. Seriously if Belichick thinks it's a dirty play than I think it is too.

    Old school...I like it.

Only time I've ever sheared a bolt using a breaker bar was when I snapped a lug stud trying to get a rim off of my dad's '57 Ford Tractor. It hadn't been off the tractor since the 70's, and I had a 6 foot length of iron pipe slipped over a 24" breaker bar. I was using a different version of the Poor Man's Impact Gun (jumping up and down on the end of the pipe) when it snapped.

Seen lots of them sheared with impact guns, though.

Haha I sheared off the bolts that hold the 2 ebrake cable guides to the axle, and the one that holds the little hard line junction thing to axle. Tried to drill them out but got impatient. I'll likely just have someone drill them out and do my rear extended brake line. Every things all rusty and I don't want to risk breaking one of the hard lines.

It's always tough trying to mod your DD.
When I had my '99 I always scheduled any mechanical work I had to do around a stretch of nice weather during the summer, so if I broke something I could ride the motorcycle to work without getting rained on :D

If you're careful, not likely. They are a large torx head bolt so if you're using the correct size bit, they're difficult to strip.

Plastic? I don't think very likely.
Edit: you have a ford now. That truck is new and clean you should have no problem.

IIRC those are mounted on a tab with access to the back side. I would just drill them out and if you fuck it up its easy enough to through bolt it with a nut on the backside.

If it was plastic on the back side that would be nice....

I think the little hard line junction thing has a metal back though. I'll take another look, maybe I can get a thin reciprocating saw blade in there out just break the plastic if it is plastic

I have the Ford, not Chris. The Ford comes with forward mounted tie downs :stirthepot:

The Tacoma bed bolts are large torx head that go through the bottom of the bed to the frame. No doubt they'll come out fairly hard but they shouldn't be terrible. I'd only take one out at a time to make sure the bed stays lined up while you work.

Especially on a 2010; the bolts shouldn't be rusted into place yet. Get underneath it and have a peek. If they're rusty, take a wire brush to them to clean the threads up, and then douse them with PB Blaster and let it sit for a while before you try to take them out. If they're not rusty, skip the wire brush and just use the Blaster. They'll come out slicker than snot on a doorknob.

Are you working in Freeport or something? seems like you're up there a lot of late. Must be a bitch of a commute, if that's the case...
