The lightened F150 with the 2.7 liter ecoboost is probably going to be a very nice truck and a good alternative to a midsize.

If you buy at the right time the incentives can be insane. Certain times of the year will get you an instant $7,500 off sticker. Or more.

The complex emissions system required in the US will cause issues for several years even though the engine/trans combo has been available for a couple of years in other markets. Emissions issues on a diesel will cost as much or more than internal powertrain failures. I still wouldn't touch these trucks for at least 3 years.

better fuel economy. more towing capabilities for when i move out. glowplugs over sparkplgs. possibly more reliable if built correctly. small diesels are very good for a teenager. im not your typical hick just wanting to blow black smoke (which i dont mind  ) i just believe diesel is a much better engine than gas engines. so take your remarks and keep them to yourself.

Sounds like you need to take a piece of your own advice "But that dura max engine is duracrap".

You are basing this on because a few of your buddies (I am guessing 16 year old age buddies who at 16 rag the crap out of their vehicles and hence cause failures because anything ragged on can fail and that is what 16 year old first year drivers do, especially boys) have had failures they are all duracrap including the 2.8 which isn't even over here and no one has experience with?

If that is your stance on the Duramax, would love to hear your thoughts on the Ford Diesel engines with all your "life long experience" and their failure-athon they had a few years ago...

Have you all taken a look at the 2015 GMC Canyon. I love that front Grille, makes the truck, but I bet It's gonna be expensive as hell. By the way, I still love my 2013 Taco more ... I just stare at it from the living room window at night (joking ... but really not)

I see the access cab rear seats will be just as useless as the Tacos. But hey, they are trimmed in leather!

The US 2015 Colorado isn't the same as the Global Market Colorado, in fact, Chevy says it's chassis has more in common with the Sierra then the Global Market Colorado.

Also, the US Spec Colorado will have a Fully Boxed Frame, instead of the C-channel thing Toyota uses....

Too bad the diesel is going to require D.E.F. That along with other emissions equipment not standard to it in other markets will likely ruin it IMO.

I got to see it up closer at the Chicago Auto Show. The interior is what looks to be made up of the same type of vinyl material as the current GM SUVs. Which IMO is cheap.

I am a little curious why Chevy/GMC kept the same names for their trucks. Name recognition is powerful; when I hear Chevy Colorado, I think of an awesome looking turd. I like what I see with the 2015, but it could be the same turd, new day. I am genuinely curious about the diesel, though the fact that nobody makes a 4-cyl diesel in the US should say something.

My Tacoma just rolled over 140,000, a number I'm sure relatively few Colorados have seen (stock). Chevy or any make can do x,y, and z to compete in the midsize truck market, but it is hard to beat Toyota's reputation for longevity, something that is worth the extra. When I'm at 200k, I'll see where the GMs are at...and probably just drive another 100k. The new Colorado could be well-reviewed from the start, like the new Ford Focus car, but there is still no way I would buy one without knowing what happens with age.

What is wrong with DEF? Are you one of those people who complain about having to fill the DEF tank every 10,000 miles with about $10 worth of fluid? I wish my 2012 TDI Golf had DEF.

This is a Toyota board. People will say anything to put down a truck no one has driven yet.

If a new Taco came out with DEF, I'm sure no one would mind.

I think the price will ruin it long before that will.
