Hey there I read through all the post and have not read anything about weight rating. Is there one? Any body put any real weight on those brackets? Can you stand on it?

What do you intend to put on them, how much weight do you really need to suspend above your "Pickup Bed" ?

If it's that f'in heavy put it in your bed. If it's not that f'in heavy then buy the guys product and use it providing you have a lick of common sense.

The guy is selling these things cheaper than you could make them yourself. Do you expect him to go hire a structural engineer to calculate the maximum load rating and then jack the price for everyone else to offset the research costs?

They're not intended for heavy loads. I designed them for bikes and skis mostly.

The factory cleats that they attach to aren't really that strong to begin with.

Definitely do not stand on them.

Mandzach your a an ass. Your totally out of line. it was a simple question theses reason I was asking, I saw some one had a basket on your bracket set up and I was wondering if you could but a deer or a pig on the brackets.

    My apologizes for offending you.

On a positive note it looks like you got your answer, they are not intended for heavy loads.

With a basket on two brackets, I think a small deer or pig would be fine. Stay away from the Moose though.

Got my brackets on Thursday. I installed them same day; the ends were a bit tweaked (from shipping I assume) but they bolted right up all the same (using the nice hardware that is included. I ended up deburring the slots and the holes a little bit to remove any fine sharp edges. Overall quality seems to be good. I will get my first chance to test them out tomorrow carrying gear when I do some wheeling.
I ended up removing them today because I decided I wanted to paint them. I ended up going with Rustoleum hammer-finish black. I will post a pic or two once I get them re-installed. I'm letting the paint dry really well.

    EDIT: here they are installed

    Update:
Went and did some exploring this past Sunday. Strapped a bit of gear to the brackets and threw a few bikes in the back too. The brackets seemed to hold up just fine.

If you use some fork mounts on the brackets, you can get the bikes up and out of the way, and you'd be able to shut your tailgate.

Can't use fork mounts with 20mm thru axles.

Exactly. Get an adapter for your 20mm and put those brackets to use!!

I use an adapter with my 15mm thru axle and it works brilliantly.

Never seen those before! Nice! I'll be getting a shell soon so the brackets will be used in a different manner. I'll be using them for layered storage in the bed.
