Not to get on topic again...but I found a wood furnace. I am getting geo-thermal now as my permanent heat. Talked to a member here that said it is possible to tye it into the same ductwork. Unfortunately for me I have to borrow from my 401A for the geo-thermal

I deal with HVAC controls for a living and if you want to get slightly complex about it, have 2 dampers each with a separately controlled actuator, and a programmable logic controller to run them. The dampers should be to isolate one duct from another, in this case geothermal from the wood fire heat. This way, you can run one system without losing heat to the other, or run both systems to really kick it up.

yeah, we took some big pines down this spring that were looming over the house. This is just from the cleanup, after I'd taken the machete along the lengths of the trunks and hacked off all the limbs I could lop with one swing. Everything else got worked up later with the Husky.

I've been glad to have this thing this winter. We've been back in the 'single digit high temps' again since Saturday. This has been a cold winter. One more rick of firewood to go and I'll have burned through as much wood as I did all of last winter, and we've still got February and March to go. I've got 3 more ricks after that and then I'm flat out of seasoned stuff and I'm starting on the wood I split this fall.
Or stuffing the stove to the gills every 2 hours with the cord of dry pine I've got stacked for summer campfires. No thanks.

 

2 days stacking and sorting through a pile of firewood that got left neglected at my client's property culminated in this 5 cord stack of a mix of fir , alder , madrone and cedar

What do you use the cedar for? Mostly I let it dry out under cover and split it up for kindling. The White Cedar that grows around here burns too damn fast for much else, and it pops and spits so much that it can be downright dangerous for campfire wood.

Man I feel for all you peeps in the rest of the states, been a rough cold winter for you guys. Meanwhile here in Cali I haven't even gotten to burn much of my pile, not only has it been hot 65-70 but we even have fire danger in the middle of winter!! Wtf ...

Thank god we are finally getting some rain though, today it's dumping outside woohoo.

 

Use it for kindling or in bigger pieces for firewood , it definitely burns faster than other woods but in larger pieces , especially rounds , the western red cedar is OK firewood

 

Just got my trailer loaded yesterday, and I will load my truck later today. Got a solid cord in the trailer, and I figure half a cord in the truck, then move it across the state close to where my wife and I will be moving to in 3 weeks. I will still have somewhere about a cord to cord and a half left at the current house to either pack along later, sell, or give to mom.

 

2.5 cords burned so far this winter, it's been cold. All through my little jotul 400.

It does a pretty good good job heating my house. I usually burn it hot, 400-500* as much as possible. It's a 24/7 fire too, stove never really drops below 200*, and comes back quick.

 

Got a cord and a half moved from current home to temporary storage near the soon to be new home across the state. Worst fuel economy ever doing it. Got 200 miles on the tank, and only had 1/4 tank left. Trailer probably tipped the scale about 3500lbs, plus a bed full of split wood as well, propelled along by 4 big gerbils. Climbed Snoqualamie pass on I90 at 35mph in what is normally a 70 zone. I was almost to my destination when I slid my rear end a couple times in 2wd, so I put her in 4hi. The roads were getting a little slick.
