I think a lot do they just have their stuff listed in build threads or something. And most people don't "mod" the tent. I will be heading out to Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) the second week in February and talking to Bobby about possibly getting another group buy going.

Congrats on the kid. And keep and eye out, CVT will sometimes sell their rental units and you can get a good deal. But they usually only have 1 or 2 at a time maybe twice a year.

Ya I saw the ones they had last year. But when would I actually use it until the kid is older you know. Not going to take a 1 yr baby in the woods and stuff. Right now I'm looking for a camper shell for the truck and either trying to sell or trade + cash for my all pro bed rack for a topper

I hope to be getting a RTT at some point in time. What has worked for me in the past when tent camping (non RTT) in terms of lighting and heat is a few candle lanterns. They give off decent light and with a few of them you can get some heat in your tent before you go to sleep.
Also, look for a Coleman brand magnetic tent light. It fastens to the top of your tent with magnetic base that holds to a metal base (base on the outside, light on the inside) It's like a dome light for your tent. Mine has remote so I can turn the light on before I get into it at night (when I'm not using candle lanterns) and in the middle of the night when I have to piss.

What kind of rack do you have the tent sitting on?

Not sure if the trailer is a mod for the tent...or the other way around :D

Took you long enough to get something on the thread
How does the tent hold up to wind?

Home made bed rack. No modifications to the tent. The telescoping ladder doesn't "click" one on side on one of the rungs. Need to look into that in the spring when the weather is a bit warmer.

Similar to a box rocket bed rack. Had a local guy fab and weld it up

added some lights on the bed rack to help with camp lighting...lights are hard wired to main switch in cab with 3 switches in the bed to control which lights to run...allows me to turn the main switch on to send power to the 3 switches and turn on/off either side or the back lights from the bed of the truck

also added a some cover straps, http://www.top-tent.com/accessories/roof-top-tent-travel-cover-straps

allows me to roll up the cover under the tent..gives me access to my fuel tanks and clears the area so the side lights can shine through

installed a shoe hammock under the tent, http://www.top-tent.com/accessories/hanging-storage/shoe-hammock

great place to store shoes outside of the tent...if i had the overhang on the tent these would work great inside the overhang

also have a dedicated tarp, ropes and poles for the tent in case of rainy situations...allows me to extend a roof over the ladder/entrance

working on getting an awning to add to the setup too

Great set up. I would keep my bed rack from all pro if it didn't cost so damn much for a canvas cover to be made.lol

in a perfect world i would also have that done...have roll up sides like the softtopper...i have a great idea in my head of how i would want it done, but i have no way to make it come true at a reasonable price...

I guess I should add the actual "mod" to the tent.
Interior LED lighting with a dimmable switch:
