I have a 2010 Tacoma 4X4 Double Cab Sport. It's my 4th Tacoma. I have always loved my trucks and they all have had low mileage. To the point the warrantee usually runs out at 36 months before I hit the mileage. Bought this truck end of year in 2009 so warrantee ran out 12/29/12. Back in July at under 20K, I had to replace the AC compressor to the tune of $900+. Called Toyota first and they said it was out of warrantee so took it to my normal mechanic. Now with under 22K miles, the fan blower housing unit appears to not be functioning correctly. I took it to my mechanic hoping it was a fuse, but he indicated it needed to be replaced. The fan only works on the highest setting, anything lower than that it doesn't blow any air.

I am so pissed off about this. There has been no recall on either issues, just didn't know if I'm the only one with a lemon or if anyone else has had this happen to them.

I feel like going into the dealership and being boisterous about this and how they sell pieces of shit and don't stand behind their product even if it is out of warrantee but way below the mileage.

Thanks for letting me vent but I am curious to know if y'all have had similar experience.

Your fan is fine, you need to replace your blower motor resistor. It is an easy job, two screws above the passenger floor board and below the glove box, then pull the old resistor out and put a new one in. As for your AC, could be multiple things wrong, but sounds like the main problem is that it wasn't run a whole lot, and seized up on you for some reason. Maybe moisture in the system. Who knows, but in the future, run your AC every so often just like putting the truck in4wd every so often to get the fluids moving.

Excellent!! Thanks for the info. Dealership for part or is it available somewhere else? Will give that a try. At least the fan still blows on high as we're still getting wacked with snow so can still clear windshield!!

Dealership is your best bet, also you can try cleaning connectors on that resistor first. Few people had just bad connectors and not bad resistor.

Should be available at the local parts store, but I would suggest removing it and at least taking some pics of it to compare to what the parts store tries to sell you.
