so, those of you who were at the super meet and that i talked to about my rear spring rate issues with my 14" coilovers, i threw on my other set of 16" 200lb coils on top of the 16 350lb coils ( im sure it will bind at full bump due to too much spring) in place of the original 100lb 12" coils that were basically a tender coil. i have 12s on compression and 15s on rebound. the difference was day and night. way way better. if my measurements are right, if i switch to a 14" 200 lb coil, without notching the frame, ill have 12" of up travel and 14" of droop after i shorten the limit straps. thoughts on this way of thinking ? should i still notch the frame to get another 2"-3" of bump travel ?

Damn man! You almost have as much droop as I have total travel! I wish I had a bit more free time and money and I would have linked the rear instead of going with the DMZ kit.

I don't know just how much more travel you need but if you think you will need/actually use the extra up travel then I not the frame and do it! I'm debating notching mine up an inch or so for that extra room til bump but I don't have near the travel numbers you do and I can always use that extra inch when rock crawling.

lol, well its strapped long right now @ 28", and i have about an inch of shaft to go, but its a regular cab with 16" or so inches of travel in the front. im going to shorten it to something around 24", but could always use more up travel i guess. might have to raise the cell an inch or 2 to clear the upper links at full bump, but we shall see. i hope i can bump it another 2 inches up with out having to raise my shock mounts. ill have to cycle everything to see if i can get away with it.

With that power you'll be a lot faster with less travel honestly.

i can see how that would help a bit. im going to strap it at 24 to start with, and go from there. ordering the springs today, then on to figuring out what and if i need to do with my valving.

you gotta double strap it bro! Also, watch some videos of your truck through the whoops. If your straps are breaking without you constantly hucking, you might need to dial in more rebound to keep your front from springing after every whoop and putting excess tension on your limit straps.

Ah a 3.4 SC would be fun no doubt. Probably be plenty of power to get you in plenty of trouble :D haha

no doubt a blown 3.4 would be incredible. and that will go in with very little fab as apposed to a v8.

Straps are just over two years old, lots of trips on them. I'm running my valving pretty much the same as many 1st gens with similar setups. I do need to see some videos fo sho. My valving front n rear are still off a bit. Is anyone running dual straps up front? Not a bad idea.

I was thinking those, but I'm pretty sure mine are 11" and they only come in evens...I do have a clevis mount so might be able to fit something.

would be cool, but if im going chevy, im going ls. do it once, and never again. chances are slim to none that ill do a beast like that though. way too many other things need to happen to make that legitimate.
