In addition to Chevy, now Nissan is looking at Diesel for the next generation of the Frontier.

    http://www.leftlanenews.com/nissan-considering-diesel-hybrid-drivetrains-for-next-frontier.html

By Drew Johnson Tuesday, Jan 21st, 2014 @ 9:53 am

The next-generation Titan might not be the only Nissan pickup truck to offer buyers the option of a diesel powertrain.

We already know that Nissan will offer its next Titan with a 5.0L diesel V8 from Cummins, but the Japanese automaker has revealed that it is also considering an oil burner for its Frontier midsize pickup. Such a move would follow in the footsteps of General Motors, which is planning to offer its latest compact pickups - the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon - with diesel engines.

I hate to be the guy to let facts get in the way of a good argument, but many of your points are simply not true. In 2013 the Tacoma lost no marketshare and actually increased the number of trucks sold for the 3rd straight year. Some analysts are predicting that the Tacoma will take the #4 spot in overall truck sales from the GMC Sierra in 2014. In 2012 and 2013 the Tacoma had 7% market share...not 2%. I don't know if I would use the term Hot Selling, but the Tacoma certainly holds its own.

I like all of the fancy stuff that some other trucks have, but at the end of the day I just don't need it. I think that is why the Tacoma remains so popular. Toyota will redesign and improve the Tacoma when they determine it is time - remember the 1st generation was also essentially the same for 10 years.

No need to be a twat. Most people don't buy Toyota, Nissan, or Honda trucks because they would get laughed off the rig. People are still too blind and misinformed to know that Toyota makes a good truck. You can't blame them, their dad and his dad's dad told them Domestic trucks are the way to go, it is a man's truck. Little do they know they're driving garbage. It is a shame that people can't see things for what they are, they'd rather be a sheep and go with the herd.

Or... maybe a mid size truck fits their needs nor do they want the hassle of driving and parking a full size truck.

I agree Toyota’s quality is excellent but when you park ataco next to say a F150 the taco does look pretty comical.

i say screw toyota at this point, went in looking at new tacoma, they pretty much told me my current tacoma is an old pos and worth nothing on trade to them... offered 2.5k less than every other mfg on trade and would not budge on price..... very stuck up. sorry but today's toyota's are not the toyotas of 15+yrs back. buy the new gm, if it was out today i would be looking at it too as i'm just about completely fed up with mine.

I just want the coolest truck out there. If you guys are telling me my Taco is no longer the coolest truck then I need to trade it for what is. 'Cause...you know...chicks dig cool trucks.
