My buddy and I up on hood. I built the A frame with space blankets and branches. Actually got so hot (arctic military sleep system) I had to move into my truck. The coals from the fire and the not so big shelter trapped too much heat. My buddy had lots of blankets and a dog bed that he and his pup slept on in the AC.

Up Lolo Pass off NF1828. It was a dead end on a spur we took with lots of turn around spots and a nice landing. We just set up camp there. Lit a nice big fire and drank some beer. Some great shots of Hood and Rainier yet somehow I forgot to take a bunch of pics . I plan on taking the GF & Lab the Friday & Saturday after Xmas. Not sure where yet. I will post something in the Oregon Washington BS thread to see if we can get a group together.

poor man's RTT? :notsure: and why are you camped in the middle of a road?!!? :goingcrazy:

I miss camping...its been in the 40's here for the last week or so and doesn't really feel like winter at all. I've been tempted to throw the tent on the truck and take off but I have no idea where to go!

You can head down south for some 70+ degree weather! I wish we had rain down here. It sucks for outdoor stuff when there's no water = brown grass = hot = snakes = ugly. I envy the beauty of your backyard!

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Nothing fancy here. My girlfriend and I slept in the bed of the truck. We used a 0° sleeping bag to sleep on top of, and tarp for cover. This was taken in Big Bend National Park after Christmas. I can't wait to go back, and generally do some more camping out of my truck.

The first photo is at Glenn Spring. The second is at Roys Peak Vista with a fellow TW member making a drink on my truck .

MTGirl, your Yellowstone thread has me distracted a lot at work. I am planning a trip down there for the spring of this year. I can't wait to go there and see morning glory pool!

Anyone for a Yellowstone meet up this spring?

Thinking of purchasing a RTT...would love hear what folks see as Pros/Cons?

Couple things that I've been thinking about are mobility while camping and what about hauling something like a kayak?

Any thoughts either way would be great.

I love my RTT! Lots of happy owners over here.... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/product-reviews/280389-cascadia-vehicle-tents-roof-top-tents.html

Mobility...as in you plan on camping at the same spot for more than one night? And want/need to move your truck daily? Could be a little more work but once you get the hang of the RTT the whole set up/ take down process is less than 10 minutes.
And the kayak...I would imagine that you could have a custom bed rack made to hold both. Or just tie the kayak down right over the RTT, just make sure to have something to prevent any friction between the kayak and hte tent cover
