I was talking about a runner when I was talking about the 14sec 1/4. Most of the 3.4's I've been in that were charges were runners. Only 1 taco.

Yes it does. I turboed a 215k mile motor and it was more fun and lasted 13k miles boosted hard.

My buddy turboed his 91 Volvo 240 and it made it more fun. Thing even looks like a brick!

I wouldn't really say supercharger adds much more parts, and they don't fail that often. Usually your motor gives out first due to pressures. I'd put it this way more power=more wear. That's more reasonable.

    yep, but how much wear?
My uncle told my cousin that a SC would quarter the life of his drivetrain.

Volvo 240 is a special kind of awesome brick. I will always kinda want one of those things, in true jalopnik trim: brown wagon manual turbo diesel

That's ridiculous. Id guess it'll still go way over 200k boosted to trd sc levels.

Haha this makes me think about those deals like my best friend's dad's friend that he works with's step brother said this :p

With a supercharger the part that you have to watch the most is your trans, but as long as you're not stupid about it I don't see it being that hard on the drivetrain.

That's what i told him, but of course his dad is still a big influence in his decision.
Yeah, and i believe the auto trans behind the 4.0 was used behind a V8 for a while wasn't it?

The first time i told dad i was gonna SC my truck he told me "you better learn how to replace a transmission"

Uhm, maybe? Not sure. I was just talking about the 3.4 since 99% of us have that.

It's really not that bad, you don't see transmissions failing every other month or something the minute you supercharge it. Just depends on how hard you are on it.

 he got his setup off of a junk 740 wagon. He still owns the car and daily drives it. At the time I had my nissan 240 which was cool just cause we both had 240s. Mine was faster though :p

Don't forget the drive shaft. A one-piece drive shaft wouldn't be a bad idea.

Again, as long as you're not stupid with it you shouldn't have to change out the drivetrain if you're using the supercharger within it's intended boost limits.

Also, if you get a one piece driveshaft then you use clearance also. I've hit my driveshaft enough times as it is.

yeah, i told dad and my uncle that i've never read of a SC failing prematurely because of a SC.

Shoot, dads 4runner has 28x,xxx miles on it (v6 auto) never had any trans maintenance done to it to my knowledge, and it's still going (somewhat) strong (every once in a while it'll seem to slip)

With all the talk of 1/4 mile runs I was thinking street use. Also, if you have the restraint to not get even just a little stupid with a super charger, you're a better man than I am. When I had my X-Runner, I had to replace the U Joints a few times. And a few sets of rear tires... V rated tires aren't cheap.
