    im trying my hardest to get to the oilfields with no CDL experience (just got my CDL from school) in north dakota! been one of the toughest challenges of my life so far! its not easy, ive been hired, then let go without even an official start date 3 times now... mentally draining me!!!

    Me. v6 auto

    Going to 4.88s was by far the best mod I have done to my truck. It definitely put everything back into the sweet spot for power, performance and mpgs.

    Your a manual so its different. The autos are geared differently enough to where they seem to benefit a higher ratio.

    The mudflaps have to stay. They keep me from having to wash the truck so much. Plus doing 60mph down gravel roads really throws the rocks up. Saves on paint chips. But I will agree, the steps do have to go. I'm thinking about putting some Nfab steps on there, but I wanna do my suspension mods first before to see if I would even need them. Going with a full icon midtravel setup and deaver leafs.

    Sometimes it's hard to get one, sometimes they hire people right off the street. I'm not really familiar with CDL jobs and driving. I've spent the last 5 years in North Dakota doing MWD & directional drilling and just recently came to work down in Texas to work closer to the house. After working with most of these guys down, I'm fixing to head back up north. More money, less headache, and for the most part, less conceited people. What all companies have you tried to hire on with. I know people like Power Fuels and some of those salt water hauling companies are usually ALWAYS hiring, but I could be wrong.

    If you were a manual, 4.56s might be OK as long as you never run a tire larger than a 33. But it looks like you are an auto.

    If you are running 33s or larger and have added weight, skids, bumpers, winches, 4.88s hands down.

    You know how your truck downshifts out of overdrive at even the slightest grade? All that will disappear. And on long, steeper grades, it will be able to upshift and hold the gear instead of downshifting again. I hated that.

    Put 33s on Igor, then you'll really know what its like. It gets old real fast.

    it doesn't shift out of OD, but the TQC unlocks at the slightest incline (well, to me it's slight) running 75, i have to do 80 (on a closed track of course, or i texas on some of the roads) to keep it from unlocking on a incline.

    Yeah, there is no way I am going 4.88 gears. I do too much highway driving for those gears. 4.56 is where I will go. Right now with my stock gears I only have to shift out of 5th on really long or steep hills.

    If you pay attention and drive just about any other car/truck out there with an auto, even the big V8s, they will drop out of TCC lockup, and many of the 4 and 6 cyl will as well, and even drop out of overdrive on hills. That is to be expected. TCC is designed to disengage under most any load. Our RAV4 does it all the time, even my brother in law's Cadillac. It's normal. I would rather have it drive like factory, not stay in top gear and TCC lockup at 700+RPM over normal, lol. That's just me though.
