Who has the JBL system with subwoofer on the 09 DC? what is your feedback on it? is it worth the price? I am debating on getting it with the truck so i wont have to deal with the headaches of getting aftermarket stuff installed.

It's not worth a lot of money b/c i have it and it's just a little better than stock. I would not pay any more than 250 or less...probably not that much for it which i know its more coming from Toyota. I'd get some aftermarket speakers like infinity and two tens or one and an amp. You'll be happier.

What annoys me the most about the JBL system is the POS FM tuner. I get all sorts of interference on mine, and stations that came in on my old vehicle don't come in on it at all, so I can't listen to NPR on my way to work in the morning.

I just got my 09 with the 6 disc changer and the sound on it so far is very good. I am coming out of an Explorer that has the 6 disc in it with the factory sub and was thinking I would want/need more out of it but so far I am happy without anything more. Thats not to say I wont put in a 10 at some point though but that would be cheaper than the factory setup.

it depends on how loud you like it. my jbl system is a huge step up from the jeep wrangler that i used to drive, but it doesnt come close to the set up i had in my younger days when i had 4 12's and some monster amps stuffed into the trunk of my bimmer. its not going to produce any @$$ kicking bass, but it does sound good.

thanks for the feedback. i am not wanting to be bassing out loud or any of the teenage years stuff, just wanting something that sounds good. did not know if it was a complete waste of money and if i am better off with the hassles of getting an aftermarket system installed.

I know this is an old thread but I have to add my two cents here in case someone is searching for good information on the topic.

A little background: Two IROC's back in the 80's modded out with over $5k of sound systems each...mostly Linear and Alpine then. Recently traded my '07 Acura TL Type S for my new Taco Sport DC w/ JBL.

Now: After having all the gizmos with the TL, I HAD to have the bluetooth on the steering wheel. That was my main motivation for wanting the JBL...but HOLY COW!! The stock JBL in my Taco is as good, no - better, than the stock system in the TL and with less stock wattage than the TL. I've read a few posts on the forum where people are dogging this system. No, its not a 1000 watt system with dual 12's, but for a stock system, I think it kicks a$$. I have no intention of upgrading this system ever. It has all the bass I like and has great highs and mids. I would have liked for it to have MORE adjustability besides just bass, treble, and mid. I like bass and I think it has plenty. I can feel the hair on my head move with each thump...that's enough for me.

I know this is my first post, but thought I needed to give my two cents on the subject.

You know, I don't think it's that bad either, now that I've had my defective subwoofer amplifier replaced, and the problem I was having with the tuner above wasn't related to the tuner at all... turns out the station went off air for a few days right after I bought my Taco :)

The sub does still distort a little bit, at loud volumes, on a few songs with really low frequencies, but I haven't found too many stock stereo systems that can handle Electric Wizard, outside of the stock Bose system that was in my mom's old Nissan Maxima... That system could handle anything I threw at it without distortion.

My only beef with this system compared to aftermarkets - the display. Why they put an old 80s LCD thing on here... I can't barely see it, even with my sunglasses off. With em on - forget it.

I love how the system sounds, but I might change out the head unit if I can find something with all the features (bluetooth, nav, dvd, NICE screen) at the right price.

Straight up! You can't see a thing with sunglasses on, if you have polarized ones on it is even worse. The faceplate is cheap on the stereos.

I don't do anything but polarized man. Once you've had nice shades, you can't go back to cheap.

I think it's a great stock system. I have never had issues with visibility with sunglasses on. I love the Bluetooth for hands free driving. It's not a Lexus, but I think it damn nice for stock.

haha I hate it with my sunglasses on as well, I only go polarized.

As for my take on it... I have an 07 with it. I ditched the stock deck and got a new one, Premier. It needs a special adapter/LOC to work. Alls I can say is it improves the system 10 fold. The sound quality is much more controlled. THe subwoofer, while still muddy, actually pushes some air and rattles the hell outta my truck.
