I find it humorous that you click 2014, and it says it is a redesign. This is super trustworthy..

I waited around until September 2013 based on this link's 'redesigned 2014' which never came about.

Throw this link in the trash...

It's a more trustworthy link than those guys who alter their information. It's also indicative of the fact that the entire auto industry is scratching their head wondering what exactly Toyota is doing letting the Taco wither on the vine.

Just a few things I've learned about "new" trucks.

The big boys love to reveal at Detroit. They can't stand the idea of another OEM putting out a show stopper. Truck sales in this country are king and any truck that debuts in Detroit will be the talk of the show.

Texas is a good backup and though the Dallas auto show is in April, if they have something they want to get noticed, they use the October backdrop of the State Fair because nothing says, "I'm a bad ass truck driver" like a ferris wheel and fried oreos.

Chicago is a decent go to place and (from best I can guess) is Toyota's preferred truck stop. They are able to do a presser and not worry about the big boys overshadowing them since they were flashing their goods back in Detroit.

GM did a Colorado reveal in California because it's a "lifestyle" truck but with the way Toyota delivers inventory and the fact that the current Taco shares a line with the Tundra, you'd be looking at a retooling when they are trying to get inventory to dealers so a fall reveal with an entire year to wait isn't reasonable.

The alternative is to first retool Mexico and let them push out the early Tacos and then shut down San Antonio on its normal cycle, but that can get complicated. It's probably best if Toyota doesn't overthink it.

If you are expecting a new or refreshed Taco, always bet on Chicago with the Dallas auto show a distant 2nd.

Could be they are waiting to see how the redesigned Frontier works out. They will be a unibody design with CVT transmission and supposed to get up to 30 MPG.
It will not be much of a real truck anymore and the Tacoma may make the same move to reach the new CAFE standards.

Yup! Tons of false information there. According to edmunds, the 2015 4Runner and Tundra get new designs after new refreshes in 14? I don't think so. It also lists the Ram Dakota as a current vehicle LOL and the Jeep Cherokee as a "new model".

I hope not. Even though Honda is moving towards CVTs they say they will keep traditional automatics in the bigger vehicles like the Odyssey and Pilot.

I can't imagine a CVT could offer all that much in payload, but you could be right.

I don't know all of the CAFE exchange rates, but I would imagine across the entire lineup, Toyota is doing so better shape with their Prius line to anchor the guzzlers. Even weighted, the Tundra can't overcome all of the prius sales right?

Anyone know exactly how the CAFE credits work?

I have short arms and wished the telescoping steering wheel came back further.

The OR seat is okay, but would prefer a seat that could be raised lowered etc. I drive to skiing and to my farm a couple of times per year. Could use a mirror with outside temp etc. it is nice. I found it to be good overall but wish the seat and highway mpg was a bit better. The off road capabilities suit me perfectly.
