    Hello All:

So Im looking at a new 2014 tacoma. Trouble is, its a big chuck of money, and no one, I mean no one, has the truck in pyrite mica, which I feel I like best. Since its such a big investment, I don't feel like being talked onto the truck that is most convenient for the dealer to sell me, but rather I feel like getting what I want.

So of course the dealers are holding this over my head, and are not in the least willing to come down at all (wanted 36,059 for package).

The package I was looking at is:
    v6 tacoma
    4X4 trd offroad
    access cab
    entune plus (not premium)

Now, a friend just picked one up from the same local dealer (granted it was on the lot), for 39plus change, but it had many more expensive options/additions such as:

4 door (more $ than access)
trd sport longbed (hood switched out also)
    +shell (2k)
    +racks
    +bfg all terrain (13,000)
entune premium w nav (more than plus)
    and a 120K mile /$2000 warranty.

so, Ive emailed this around to a few other dealers, and basically get no response. No one wants to sell something they don't have or the slightest notion of negotiating puts them off or something. My local dealers were kind of rude, untruthful and just annoying I thought, telling me all kinds of BS about how rare this was and so on, and lying to me about the deal a friend just got that I know the truth about.

Im down to pay the $ (and I have cash!), but they are just lame. Or is it me??

Should I just wait until toyota starts painting trucks colors other than black white silver and grey??!

    thanks for any opinions.

I got my Tacoma last year for 33k and it was listed for 35.5k. If I were you I would look out of town and get a better price and get one out of town

Well I called and emailed this to 3 dealers, no response… They basically respond that they couldn't find one in pyrite mica, and say, "whats your second favorite color?", or don't even answer my questions at all, and divert to something else related to selling something on the lot.

Lol Ive tried that, they go into their spiels about how no one makes a mid sized truck and tacoma owns the market, blah blah blah… they basically know you want the truck, so they hedge their bets that they can rape you. Make me want to get a dodge or something

where in Cali are you, I would look online for the one you want and when you find it either call that dealer or ask your local dealer to have it sent over, be careful though. I did this on my 2013 DCLB and it ended up with a "Chrome package" they dipped the wheels. but I argued my way out of paying for that. Good luck

santa BArbara co. They found "one in the region", i.e. nevada Ca and Arizona, the guy tried to get it but it sold, so now its an order. Then he lectured me that he got the grey one in and it was apparently also "the only one in the region" yeah fucking right. Whats up with them not painting their popular colors!?

When I was looking, I found a TruePrice dealership and didn't try to negociate on top of that. I probably could have gotten some more off, but I already paid like $2.5k below what the sticker said, and on top of that, Toyota Financial put another $1k towards my down payment for being a recent grad. Regardless of that, I was happy with the 'TruePrice' price and didn't feel like I was being bent over. You might want to check and see if there are any TruePrice dealers around you

I did a vehicle search thing thru AAA, but it only applies to vehicles on the lots. There is nothing in pyrite on the lots at this time apparently, anywhere. I can check on trueprice.

I would find another dealer and walk in showroom. Tell them exactly what you are saying here and that you will special order if need be. Good luck. I hope you can get someone to work with you. I had to special order one last Friday to get exactly what I want and I am still waiting on confirmation that the order was accepted. Apparently some combinations of packages are getting difficult to order. Luckily the sales manager is a long time good friend, so I am still getting a great deal. Mine is a 2014 Silver DBL Cab TRD Sport 4x4 with Entune Premium w/JBL.

Price is high for an access cab no? Just went on Toyota.

2014 Tacoma Access TRD Offroad, standard bed, 4x4, entune plus comes to $31,680

I paid $31,980 for my 2013 SR5 Double cab LB, granted it doesn't have the TRD package it is still the extra cab.

I checked the same thing as yours but with a double cab and it's $33,500.

i feel they told him way too high also. im looking at a dcsb 4x4, 4L Auto TRD OR, entune plus (no nav) for 317xx at invoice for my area. so you should be able to get a access cab cheaper than that.

Especially when the invoice they show includes delivery! They say they make no money off new cars. $100-200 they say. My ass! If he bought that truck right now they would be making $3k+

Check a different dealer and order what YOU want. I leased my truck and wished I added some stuff. I leased because it's lowering my overall loan amount. Been leasing for 4 months now and the end payment through my bank is dropping quick. In another year I will buy out the lease for the same amount I am paying now and pay on the truck for a total of 8 years (though I do over pay so it won't actually be THAT long) It's just whats time the loan is taken out for, kinda like how I leased it for 3 years but am only going to actually lease it for about a year and a half.

So don't be afraid to add all the goodies you want! I wish i got the color matched grille/mirror, bed mat, steps and bed extender. But lesson learned!

haha yea. a good rule of thumb op is 2k lower than msrp for invoice. they can shove it for even trying to get 36k out of an access cab imo, i wouldnt go back to them.

$36 large is a bs price from a bs dealer. go somewhere else. should be like $3,000 less, no?

I just searched using USAA for OP's truck - access, v6, 4x4, off road, tow pkg, entune plus - using San Diego zip code (because I'm not sure where OP is in CA) and the estimated dealer price is $30,921.

If you are paying cash have a dealer order it. Don't debate, argue or threaten them. If they want to give you some pitch politely excuse yourself and move on down the road until you get what you want.
Also that price is way too much based on the information you gave. It should not be more than about 31,000. A little lower since you are talking cash.
When I was looking for my truck I told them what I wanted and they said there was not one around. I told them to order it and they said it may not come in as I wanted and I would need to give them some leeway on color. I just thanked them for their time and left as the sales person was walking with me towards the door trying to convince me to pick another truck. I smiled and just kept walking. When you have cash the ball is in your court not theirs. Well a couple days later they called me and said they found one exactly like I wanted. Next we sat and talked about price. By the way do some shopping on the internet through the dealers and tell them exactly what you want. It is much less stressful.
