5100 set to max, pending LSD and TRD CAI
Sr5 or off-road. The sport only looks pretty.

only looks pretty? I guess that depends on what the dealer is charging and what someone wants. I like the color matched grill and bumper etc. of the sport.

i got mine for 28,000 out the door and only missing the locker of the trd off road. Which I can easily do and the sport has the 8.4in rear.

    My 2010 DC 4x4 was SR5
I traded for a 2012 Sport because I guess I was in the mood to waste money.
If I buy another Tacoma, it will be SR5
    I'm also considering a Tundra SR5

    *then

Short bed sucks and there is no heated mirror option which sucks only slightly less than a 5' bed

Love my 2014 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4. The color matched door handles and bumpers look SO much better in my opinion. The hood scoop is cool, but not really that important to me.

I love the way the truck rides on the road. Super plush and smooth over bumps. The seats are very, very nice. I've got the JLB/ Nav and like it pretty well so far.

I like the idea that I won't have to do anything to the truck for a long time. I will do some stuff eventually, but, I'm absolutely satisfied with it stock as is.

Staax: hey another Canuckistani on this forum! I hope you are enjoying the shopping process. It's all good.

I started out with a 2007 Access Cab 2.7L 4x4 and 5 spd stick (it's an American import, and I'm most grateful). For an empty nester like myself (kids have both left home for Whistler, BC & Chiropractor school at CMCC in North York, ON), the Access cab was fine for throwing in groceries, ski boots, goalie leg pads, and dog/cat/guinea pig.

My son at CMCC needed a vehicle for his clinical placements and goalie commitments so he took my 2007 Access cab long bed.

I'm now driving a 2010 DCSB V6 6 speed manual SR5 (thanks to our American bros who allowed the dealer to import this fine Taco) and I'm quite liking all the SR5 upgrades from my 2007 Access Cab which was more like a 'work' truck without any electrical tweaks (no cruise, no intermittent wipers, roll up windows, manual locks).

The american SR5 comes with factory steelies (rims) and I quite like them over the "prone to corrode" aluminum wheels. The steelies are gonna get a coating or 2 of Krylon or Tremclad BBQ high heat HD paint this spring in black to get that "thug" look. Hey, it's my sons that labelled it "Thug" or "murder" not me. :D That's their terminology and I gotta get used to it. :)

I particularly love the 6 spd manual. At least there ain't no thiefs (thieves) out there who can drive stick. Advantage: Hungry.

I ended up with the chrome bumpers , but I truly am a flat black bumper kinda guy like my past 2007 Access Cab work truck. I really love my 4 doors. My wife (who also drives stick) loves the fact that we can take guests out on a winter adventure of snow shoeing and then have the short bed (5') to toss in their poles and snow shoes.

I really don't need a 6' bed from my last 2007 Access Cab. Truth be told, I owned a 1980 Toyota pickup long bed and hardly ever used all of it... Okay, okay, a couple of moves later. Sure, but for everyday use like dump runs and servicing my snowblower/lawnmowers, the SB at 5' works for me.

I hope this helps the shopping process. I love my Taco trucks. This 2010 DCSB SR5 is # 4 for me and hopefully many more.

When my coworkers (all own F150's, Sierras) tease me about my girly truck with tampons and all, I remind them that I have a real man's stick shift 6 speed. And that shuts them up! I remind them about my Hello Kitty sticker on the rear window! :D

    Hope this helps!

    Peace be the journey!

    Barney

Thanks for all the replies guys.

My Dakota now has a 6.5 ft bed and I do appreciate that space and the 1600 lb payload rating, I was a little unhappy to hear the Tacoma is more around the 1100 mark if I remember correctly. Nothing an AAL can't fix.

As per the seats - I don't need the heated ones. I used to drive an 04 Pontiac Grand Prix with heated seats and it actually drove me nuts. The back of the seat stopped working and all I got was a hot ass and the settings were essentially scolding hot or off.

Some people say the seats are also a little uncomfortable but it can't be worse than my 40/20/40 bench seats right now.

I'm not a fan of chrome myself but I'll still likely chase down an SR5 unless I get a good deal on the sport somewhere (highly unlikely).

And hey, Canada isn't so bad

All Tacoma's are technically short beds.

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
PLUS 1 on the seats. That is the #1 reason I am going the TRD and have always driven the TRD's is the seat. Yes it is a different seat and not just material cover. I have had many of both and IMO the seat is that much better on a long trip.

What's the reason for Toyota not offering the TRD Offroad DC in Canada?
