I live in so cal and there are tons of places to rent however It gets costly to rent unless your going through bottles weekly/ bi weekly or on a commercial contract. most home hobbiest and enthusiast sit on a bottle for months and that adds up fast

Thermal Arc 186 is the cheapest quality AC/DC tig you are gonna get that will do 1/4" and it doesnt have a MVP plug. 220 only. With out a foot pedal you can get one for a little under $1600.

Their are some chinese brands that are cheaper but their customer serive might as well be nonexistent. Also machines dont get repaired, you have to pay shipping to the company head quarters then what happens next is questionable.

If I were in the market for an introductory AC/DC TIG, that would be my machine of choice.

I would definitely buy the foot pedal for it.
I wouldnt be too worried about quality. Thermalarc makes solid machines. I have 2 Thermalarc MIGs in my shop that we run every day and I've only had one of them have an issue- main power board on one, but it was covered under warranty (they have one of the longest warranties in the industry which should say something) and they sent me an entirely new machine in the end.

i didnt realize it was available with a foot pedal.

now wonder why it takes so long to get bumpers out the door, you only had one machine. :D

I like this but a little pricey

Don't worry, he has a short fuse. According to him I'm a douche bag for telling him I'm going to knock him the fuck out in response to his post stating he was going to kick another members ass, that member being a friend of mine. And I'm the douche bag in this scenario

Thanks man. And if you're really interested, I do know of one that blew up pretty good and I can even send a link. But that was a couple years ago. Lots of info in that thread regarding both sides of the complaint.

    OK, back on topic.
