That has got to be the weakest ban hammer I've ever seen. This is mine.

I like driving standard, but am getting auto because the tide is inevitable in that direction. Still I agree with the post that suggested kids learn to drive stick, in case they ever want to drive in Europe, or drive an old mustang, or whatever eventuality might crop up.

No, we choose our hammer based on destructive capabilities. That hammer can bash users, pry the truth from even the harshest critics, twist the femurs of the noob leg bumper and gouge out the eyes of even the most Canadian members!

I think I might have a somewhat "rare" configuration because I have a manual with V6, tow package, backup cam, and TRD off road. I don't know what other features were available for my model year.

Anyone care to inform or correct me on this?

Not rare, just not often purchased. Some would say undesirable. ;)

I wouldn't say rare. There was one or two manual trd's on the lot when I bought my 6spd SR5 access cab. I just didn't like the harsh shocks and figured if I really wanted to off-road it I'd just modify it myself with better stuff.

Though the bed mounted power would've been nice for the telescope & camera.

To be honest the locker saved my ass twice today.

Poor manual trans :( North Americans favour automatics in general though so that might have something to do with the poll results.

I see that I was wrong. It seems like all the well-equipped models I've peered into are automatic.

As far as this thread goes, having had the TOB TSB done to my car, I have more faith in the trans. I'm planning on keeping my original clutch until at least 100k miles... On that point, I wonder what the cost of ownership works out to be when you factor in clutch replacements - especially for those of us who don't have the skills or equipment to do the job ourselves - compared to an automatic? How often do auto tacoma owners get your fluids changed or have the tranny serviced in any way?

I'm curious to see how long my clutch lasts. I bought it with 25k on the ODO, so I don't know how it was driven for it's childhood, but I've been real easy on it. Especially since I will be the one replacing it.:D

If I recall from the Auto I had before this, the only time you would need to change the fluid is if you tow a lot, or you've sumberged it. I know my '06 was purring great at 105k without any trans issues.

The Canadian maitenance schedule calls for a flush and refill of the tranny fluid at 100,000 kms ( about 60K miles )

In my opinion, the 4 speed in a 2.7 access cab is ridicuolous, 1st is stretched out way to much to get any power out of the engine and overdrive is too long to tow anything over 750lbs and if your towing in 3rd you'll end up with mileage the same as the 4.0, not trying to start a war, just my opinion
