I'm new. Are these issues common on Tacomas?

My 2009 was plagued with stereo problems and now at 23,000 miles, I just had to replace my clutch. Thanks.

    Welcome.

Stereo: Yes. My 2010 is on its third.

Clutch: Mine's auto, so I haven't paid attention to 2nd gen clutch issues, if any.

I purchased it new. The radio actually crapped out during the test drive and was then replaced or repaired 8 times. I ended up buying a N.O.S. unit from a 2005 on Ebay and it's been fine ever since. I got Toyota to pay for it. The clutch just began slipping. I usually get 100k plus from them in my Toyotas. The disc was glazed. Its a LUK. So is the pressure plate. The AISIN in my 2000 lasted 160k and was still good when I traded it. I've purchased a Chinese kit from Perfection. My transmission man swears by them. We'll see......

I would have loved to see the look on the salesman's face. Could have used that to your advantage to get the price knocked down :p

Same here with the radio and the speakers. The factory radio seems like it's a problem with a lot of the Tacos. Mine gave out awhile back, replaced with a nicer aftermarket. Now the factory speaks finally gave out a few days ago, had to replace them and decided aftermarket was the way to go again.

    Too few to list.
My 2009 had radio problems. Something about the power button or the display screen as well as the amp on JBL models. I have a 2011 now and once in while my radio display will go out then come back on.

As for the clutch, 2009 I had was a 6 speed. It was a known issue for the TO bearing making a noise due to the way the bell housing was made as the shaft the TO bearing slides on was made out of aluminum and when it wore out there was play. At less than 30K miles, I was getting a whirring noise. As for the actual clutch itself, it could have been the previous owner was hard on it. From what I can remember, it was the 4cyl that had clutch problems.

I had my 09 radio repaired 3 times and replaced 1 time. After that, I just bought an aftermarket with more features.
I had the auto. so no info regarding the clutch.
