So I've gotten a new dd head unit installed.. Kenwood dnx690hd.. Sounds a little better but I need a bit more volume and clarity. I don't want to do an amp at this time. Will new front speakers make a difference and if so which ones should I get? I don't want high end as the only thing pushing them is a good head unit. I realllly wanted to buy the taco tunes bundle but after reading lots of posts from people that got jerked around I think I'll pass on that dudes business.. Also I've found speaker mounts on ebay and crutch but I haven't found any tweeter mounts. Any help would be appreciated.

I am unsure of the DC but in the RC you get speakers that have magnets the size of a quarter. So yea you will definitely want to get some better speakers. I have also heard that the upper models have 6x9's in the front but again I am unsure of that. I put some cheap Rockford Fosgates in the bottom of the door and some $10 Power Acoustik tweeters in the door handles. It made a 34598347534% difference in sound with the stock stereo. There is also a guy on Ebay that has the speaker brackets that fit well.

What I did for the tweeters is mount the brass plate that they came with onto the back of them, straightened the brass out, and then pinched the bracket between the door and bracket near the door handle inside of the door panel. They stayed there and don't rattle or cause any problems. Normally they come with double sticky pads and you have to get creative.

Thanks :). Installed it in November/December, so no idea about the heat factor. The reviews on Amazon were super positive, so i have faith. Personally, i think most are about the same quality (except for that ceiling stuff people buy from Home Depot - given that is an outdoor application and is wicked cheap, I assume that will stink eternally) , but time will tell. The smell was not too bad during installation and was gone in 24 hours.

Ordered JL audio c5-650 components for the front doors and Jl audio XD500/3 amp to push them. the subwoofer channel on the amp will have to remain open at this point as I'm broke:rolleyes: Doing FULL door sound deadening to really hear the C5's at their best. I'll do the stealth box subwoofer in the spring when I recoup funds. I'll let ya know how it sounds when I'm done - it'll be nice to have enough volume to outdo my magnaflo exhaust without distorting.
