That would be my guess. I wonder what it will consist of? I kinda wish they would offer an Off-Road package consisting of a base model with only the off-road goodies like an E-locker on both ends, lower gears, a better suspension, heavy duty recovery points, and most importantly, rubber flooring (no carpet) and water-proof seats. With all the luxury BS available as an option.

Of course, I kinda wish they would start marketing the Hilux here in the US again, but you know what they say, wish in one hand and crap in the other...see which gets filled faster. :p

I know the earthquake fucked them up some what on new modles, but with all the drumrolls over the new tundy. When I saw it it was a oh shit thing..Only auto Co I know that can rehash the same old turd over & over & get away with it..A old guy told me the other day that he thinks toyota will try to pull that with the taco. New nose new tailgate. And more bell inside & call it a new truck..Toyota has 25 billion + in the bank in cash..If they try to cheep out on the new taco I for one say they have shit in the nest for the last time.

Hopefully they move the elocker up to a 8.4" diff too and the rubber flooring no carpet mod is easy haha have you seen the inside of my truck? Also I think the biggest thing would be a manual transfer case instead of this electronic actuator bs I mean even the 5th gen 4runners have manual ones. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, I never did like the push-button 4x4, although I don't really have a good reason for it. Sure, it's more crap to malfunction, but I think it has more to do with there's just something more satisfying about shifting a lever rather than turning a knob or mashing a button.

And as long as we're fantasizing, how about getting rid of the IFS on the 4WDs and putting a straight axle in them. And have them come standard with 35s on the Off-Road versions. :D

Well that would mean no more 4wd ecu and no more shitty actuator or lag in shifting. I used to drive my moms fj and my old jeep a lot so I miss a manual tcase and how reliable it was.

Shit why not let's add a flat belly too and no more low hanging crossmembers. Also jeep like fenders so fitting 37s takes like 5 minutes (the time it takes to put the lugnuts back on all around)

4-linked front and rear with coil-overs, and factory skids that are more than basically just splash gaurds as well. And maybe a tag mount on the tailgate like the 'runners so they can have a high clearance bumper/hitch without having to mess with the tag. :D

In other words an fj cruiser-like tacoma but with straight axle up front. Yes, the tag issue sucks. Mine is getting relocated in a week or two here

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a Hilux-sized truck that you could take out bone-stock and confidently run Moab or the Rubicon with along side the modified rock crawling rigs...maybe not the more extreme trailer queen rigs and all, but definitely, the SAS'd Tacos and Jeeps with moderate suspension upgrades.

haha ya I wish I could lol, but my dads not really into the whole wheelin/offroading thing unfortunately, and plus its his, I dont think hed let me build it up like that lol . he had an '86 4Runner 4WD back when we were on Guam back in 2007 and he bought this '02 when we got back (he had to sell the other one) which is only 2WD unfortunately, its completely paid off when he bought it though. He was thinking about getting some running boards and a small lift, but nothing like Ive been getting into lol. I think I need to convince him to try it out

Yea man take him out one day. I've been looking into 3rd gen 4runners lately. It'd be nice to SAS one.

I do need to try, since he'll be in Texas, next time I go to visit them, we can go out somewhere to the deserts possibly or some trails and maybe get him into it :D. it would be nice to see it SASd.

Ill have to dig up some old photos of the dark green '86, it had a 3in lift with I think 32s (I was like 13 at the time) and it had so many problems with it lol, thats why he had to get rid of it. There was no way it would pass the safety inspection to ship it back stateside. Speedo didnt work, driver side window motor was broken, tailgate window motor was broken, exhaust pipe was rusting, bumpers were rusty, suspension was squeaky, paint was chipped here and there rusting as well...so much lol, it was refereed to what the locals called beaters like that a "Guam Bomb"
