I don't think so. I love my Tacoma and wouldn't trade it for a Ford.

Short answer: no. Long answer hell f*ck no. American manufacturers (especially ford these days) are good at making gimmicky crap that appeals to the "oooo shiny" crowd, but has crap for longevity. But no worries about longevity because they give them face lifts every couple years so you can always stay on top of your game with the shiniest turd out there.

    No because it's a ford.

I've driven lots of brand new f150s. The ecoboost engine is terrible. Completely gutless. The v8 is meh. They don't feel very stable over bumps.

Know why ford has a "BRAND NEW ENGINE"(that they brag about) every year? Because they can't find one that works..

Why do people always raise the ? That big must be better , it's a ? Without reason . For years American sedans where huge , but people still bought BMW 's and volvo's Mercedes Benz and other more expensive and much smaller sedans . Unless you work as a farmer or some sort of a builder or tradesman you are an ass driving a full size truck as your mode of transportation . A luxury truck has no right in the free real world , it's just taking up space on the planet . Like the dinosaurs they wil be distinct in a few years , along with the big caddys and town cars , buicks , Oldsmobiles .

Still better than GM/Chrysler, and the fat and ugly Tundra that chugs gasoline.

If Toyota didn't exist, I honestly don't know what truck I would have... If it had to be a midsize. If it had to be a full side for towing, I'd get a cummins wayy before a ford. The duramax's have a lot of jam though.

Let's not get off topic though.

Have gone through my fair share of trucks in the last 40+ years, including three each Fords and Toyotas. All three of the Fords had problems. All three of the Toyotas were problem free. I value reliability above all other attributes, and I've never had a single bit of trouble from any Toyota car or truck I've owned. Ad campaigns and second-hand opinions don't phase me anymore (I'm an old guy). I wish the best for the "Big Three", but they've abused my trust every time I joined their "customer research and development team" by purchasing one of their problem prone products.

LOL, what? Luxury trucks do pretty well...and can't say I agree that someone is an ass if they drive a full-size. I'd enjoy being able to fit 4 adults in my truck comfortably.

I'm a Ford guy through and through, so I have always liked the F-150s. However, does the 2015 make the Tacoma obsolete? I don't think so. I bought a Tacoma, because I know Toyotas are damn near indestructible and I don't like piloting a full-size pickup around everywhere when a Tacoma can tow anything I need it to, and haul what I want in the bed. Ford left the compact/mid-size pickup market in 2011 when they killed the Ranger leaving the Tacoma (awesome), Frontier (good truck, just something I don't like about it), and the Canyon/Colorado (GM is crap - plain and simple).

That said, I love my Taco and I will be keeping her until she dies or I need a full size pickup.

I'm no Ford fan boy but your post is wrong. The frame will actually be stronger because the frame will have 77% steel versus, I believe, 23% steel in previous versions. Its the body that will have the aluminum and where the weight savings comes from. I doubt you will get 700 lbs of savings but probably closer to 300 to 400 lbs based on the usual cab configurations that most people buy. As far as safety, I doubt it will make much difference because normally body panels are designed to crumple already. Ford also employed a couple of people from Boeing who's experience with aluminum made this possible for Ford

What people don't realize is that it will be more expensive to repair an aluminum body and most body shops aren't set up to do so. Insurance will probably cost more.

The reason I raised the question regarding owning a full size truck , because I'AM in these large buck boards all day at work , and can't wait till i get out of it and into my Tacoma. The full size truck to haul goods , tools , tow , for the purpose of making money . Smaller trucks take up less space on the roads ' large trucks cause most accidents , and cause traffic jams . Bottom line they are somewhat of a hazard when people are not being carful with them .
The day of the larger truck has reached its oversized use for most people , the trend is over . People will wake up and say what the hell is that elephant doing in our driveway and how do we get rid of it . TACOMA !

No, in a word. How many of you walk into a showroom and buy a truck based on its weight? People buy based on needs, features, size, and price. i admire what ford is doing. they're thinking out of the box a little. Great. doesnt mean they'll take customers away from toyota.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
all the 250 and 450 race dirt bikes use a Aluminum frame and is still as strong and is lighter. they went from doing round steel frames to more of an oval tube. Also some still use aluminum in the race quote frames. all the utility atvs and stuff do use a steel frame though.

also there is different types of aluminum and they are not going to use the same grade as a pop can is made from. also the aluminum on pop cans is almost paper thin so yes it’s going to crush easy.

imho tundra is best looking. also my brother had a ’09 silverado with the 5.3 and now has a ’11 DC tundra with the 5.7 and it gets better mpg than his sillverado did and is cheaper to fill up.

They can call anything "military grade". The plastic. The rubber. The glass.

The aluminum is more of a marketing ploy then a actual benefit to anyone..

The reg cab F150 still weights more then 5000 lbs

My double cab long bed weights in just over 4300.

See where im going with this ?

If where your going with this is that they are trying to shed weight to meet the new fuel economy standards , I agree
