Ford thinks their all cool with this aluminum body panel shit. Just wait till a new owner parks too close to a house full of tweakers, and comes out to find his truck stripped of its body panels.

It doesn't make it obsolete, but it will get me into the cab for a test drive when it come time to replace my Tacoma. For what I do with my truck, cost per mile is the name of the game. I have no loyalties to the truck or the brand. That 2.7 ecoboost has the potential to double the horsepower and hold the line on fuel economy. Nothing to sneer at, IMO...

sounds like you fell for their marketing ploy. Fords smallest f150 is still heavier then the largest Tacoma .

Seems to me the aluminum didnt save enough weight to make it worth it.

Its a marketing ploy and seems like you fell for it, I say you go buy one and check back in with us after a few years and many visits to the dealer .

Just make sure you buy the extended warranty .

    *than

and I don't think the design objective was to " weigh less than a Tacoma "

and I didn't fall for anything , I was discussing the merits of weight reduction

    Thanks for your concern though

A damn good portion of the Space Shuttles were made from aluminum alloy The command module was completely aluminum. * ( Three of the later shuttles used graphite epoxy over aluminum to lighten the load further ).

The Shuttles had to deal with a great deal more stress during launch than driving a truck down a road. Look how long they were in service 20+ years.
