Dealership Service Dept. IDIOCY!!!

So, I dropped off my new 885's and 5100's to be assembled at the dealership. Since my compressor exploded and nearly killed me. They tell me it will take 2 days to get it done???? Ok, fine.

An hour later they call and say they are done...awesome, right? I get them and the bottom plate stops are not lined up with the end of the coils. I mention this and they tell "oh, it's ok". Like hell, so I get them to straighten them up.

I get them home and start to get my equipment together to mount them and I suddenly notice.............THEY SET THE 5100's AT TWO DIFFERENT HEIGHTS!!!!!!!

Ridiculous. So, now I have to take them back again. IDIOCY!!

 

bottom line is............dealership service sucks ass!! find a local mechanic if you cant do something.......usually, they are alot more trust worthy.

 

Yeah...Dealership is pretty much the whole problem...Not where I woulda taken work like that.

What did that "idiot dealer" charge you to assemble those springs?

I think almost any small "side street" body shop could've done that for you. Walk in with the parts in one hand and a $50 bill in the other. Walk out 10 minutes later with the parts assembled.

 

Don't go to a Toyota dealer to have aftermarket goodies installed. Lesson learned.

 

$50 to rent a spring compressor at AutoZone. Tedious? Maybe.. but you ensure that it gets done right.

 

^And ensure that you maim or kill yourself if you don't know what you're doing.

 

x2....if you have never used one........take the springs/shocks somewhere and let them do it.

 

Dealer is lame sometimes!! I had a grinding noise up front, so took to dealer. They said truck is lifted we wont touch and besides it is definitely the front suspension that is fucked. I got a second opinion at another dealer, turns out the noise was my K&N josselin around. It had come loose and just needed to be re-tightened. So short story long not all dealership service depts are the same. You might want to head to another?

 

Dealership Service is a complete conflict of terms but on the other hand, IDIOCY describes perfectly what goes on @ dealerships!

 

It's not rocket science to properly use one.

2)....Dealer service needs a "talking too"..not %^&*$# BUT a stern complaint directly to someone who cares..if you have too the GM....
3) all DEALERS are not created equal......The Shop my truck was purchased from had an a$$ for a service director,BUT my local dealer saw a chance to win back my buying power.....My frame swap was done along with the BJ/LCA tsb and I am now a "Dube" fan once again.....
they even "punked" a new service writer on my state inspection

Times are tough and dealers need to remember QUAILTY CUSTOMER SERVICE will win over even the biggest PIA......

Back to your "Suspension",my old shop had the "suicide 4-bolt" compressor until I purchased the MOOG "claw"..I did part with it when I left ( boss paid me what I paid for it ) A few extra $$$ can make sure you get home tonight..

 

I took them back in today and they fixed it. Plus, I over heard them deny a TSB because the guy had a lift on his truck. So, I pulled him aside and mentioned the forum to him.

 

When using a tool that is that dangerous, it is best for an inexperienced person to use their non rocket scientist brain and pay a garage a couple bucks to do it on their wall mount compressor.

So my only question is, what exactly happened to your spring compressor?? I've used them 7 or 8 times without any issues, but I have always had that thought in the back of my head, "If this damn thing broke..." anyways, I'm curious to know how it broke.

 

I'm sure you have a few idots that work with you too. It's not cool to bash a dealership just because of a tech who has no clue what he is doing. Just my opinion.

 

Those Autozone compressor are not dangerous if you know what you are doing. Just set it on and lock them in place.
