quick question, is it possible to shorten the overall length of a 2nd generation extracab tacoma by relocating the leaf spring shackles to right behind the rear shocks?

or would a better solution to this be ditching the rear leaf springs and going for rear links and coil overs?

I will convert it to a flatbed when doing this project

I am not going to shorten the wheelbase, just getting rid of the rear overhang past the stock rear shocks.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
sounds like you may want to bob the bed... not sure about moving the springs however...
    don't think I've seen a 2nd gen bobbed

I get rid of the stock bed and make a flatbed.

move spring hangars forward and chop off a few inches of the back of the frame. Shouldn't be terribly difficult

@BlackPipe- Can you move the leaf spring shackles and hangers forward to just behind the rear stock shocks?

it would depend on the length of spring you want to run, i think behind the rear shock might be a little agressive. The front spring hanger would be a rock magnet hanging off the bottom of the frame at that point, unless you french it into the frame.

Dude you asked this question last week.

Bob the fucking box to shorten the overall body length.

If you fuck with the leafs, it will shorten the fucking wheelbase. This won't effect approach or departure angles.
