Just a warning about the rear 2in AAL w/o TSB, I did that on my 09 doublecab with ~55k on the leafs and they sagged back down again in a few months, getting about .75ish inches of left out of the back right now, I'm about to order Allpro expos and new shocks, but i've gotten rear ended twice this week... so thats on hold till the truck is 100% again.

Just my 2 cents on the aals

Yea AALs are just bandaids really unless applied to a new pack that it was designed to fit with.

I plugged in my cell phone and GPS, air freshener... And I mod'd the square cup holders to fit my round cups.
I live in So. County. I bought my '99 Taco in Feb 2013. I'm in love. I never thought I would like driving a truck but I needed it to get me back & forth to work with reliability and the ability to drive over obstacles in E. St Louis.
I've only done one mod and that was correcting the square cup holder issue. It's a little goofy but it works great. Nearly a year later and the cup holders are still perfect. Pics are in my gallery if you want to view, critique, or give a few pointers.

I have read a lot on this forum and there are a lot of things I would like to do, but don't have the necessary tools, language or aptitude to get it done. I do have a purse, though :D

    A BBQ would be fun!

    Yeah.
And what kind of "obstacles" might you need to drive over? LOL.

    Welcome!

There are ALL kinds of obstacles in ESTL! More than I ever thought imaginable. I try to drive around and not "over" most obstacles... You just never know what some looney bird has stuffed in a sack and thrown in the middle of the road... Mostly it's just really bad roads, deep potholes, missing manhole covers, sofas, recliners, miscellaneous lumber, pallets of bricks, etc. Vacant lots are more passable than some roads and sometimes it's necessary to drive thru the vacant lots to avoid collisions with said obstacles, pedestrians walking down the middle of the street high as a kite in the middle of the night and other non-drivers operating motor vehicles. Also because I work at the rail yard, I get blocked by trains a lot coming and going to work. You DO NOT idle and wait for the train to go by in ESTL in the middle of the night and sometimes you gotta hit the ditch to get it turned around and find an alternate route. Not something that's easy to do in a Buick Rendezvous.

Buying a Tacoma brings me some semblance of security and peace of mind.

How much of a PIA is fixing this issue... When I adjust the tilt on the back rest of the driver seat it seems to lock in place but then after a little wiggling in the seat it will pop backwards about 1 click position and finally latch. Also, if you are sitting in the drivers seat, the left side of the seat sits back just a shade farther than the right side. Broken? I think so...can I fix it without replacing the seat?

Eventually, I would like to rip out all the carpet and have rubber/washable flooring installed. It's a truck for Gods sake, not my living room. I hate cleaning carpet. And I thought... that when I replace the flooring, I want to get rid of the cloth seats as well. Is fixing the seat a quick/easy repair or should I just live with it until I replace them?

Carpet is easy to remove. THen just bed line the floor. Be louder though as more road noise will get in.

Seat just sound broke. No idea if you can fix it or if it just need replaced.

    Yeah.
Geez, sounds like a war zone, and at some level I guess it is. STL gets a bad rap, but most people don't realize that it's a great place other than east and just north of downtown -- and most cities have similar areas. You might consider some E-rated tires next time you need them. It would suck to have to change a flat in the middle of a shootout.

As far as the seat, I would check with Pick-n-Pull to see if they have one to swap out. Even if it is the wrong color, some neoprene seat covers with Scotchguard sprayed on them would hide the color difference and make seat cleanup easy. Yours sounds kinda messed up, and you can't really buy parts for seats. Aftermarket seats usually require some fabrication skills, so best bet is finding a used one.

I am not sure if Weathertech makes digital fits for that year model, but RockAuto sells vinyl flooring for about $100 for the '99. It will be louder, though, like Blackdawg said, unless you put some insulation material under it. Pretty sure my '92 with vinyl floors had that stuff that looks like it is made of compressed thread scraps underneath the vinyl.

Looking forward to some more urban assault stories.

ESTL isn't horrific most days, and seriously most days it's pretty normal. But when unexpected shit hits the fan, the chain reactions can be amazingly awesome and scary all at the same time.

Seriously, if you're a people watcher, it's fascinating shit. I left work one afternoon at 3pm there was a black man in a canary yellow Zoot Suit, with hat and shoes to match, standing in the middle of the intersection at 26th and Bond directing traffic. I didn't know if I should ignore him or follow his traffics signals. After my initial confusion & studying the situation a couple of seconds, I realized everybody else was following his signals and thought it best to go with the flow.
I've seen Jesus of Nazareth, white flowing robes and all, walking down Rte 3. I didn't know if I should stop and give him a ride. I felt torn as I drove by without stopping, thinking .... What would Jesus do? lol. I already know I'm a little f'd up.

Has any body used total tinting in ofallon for anything? I saw they do more than tinting I was going to call and see how they compare in price on seat covers.

If you're looking for leather, I just had my seats done by Auto Trim Restyling. About $1500 with heated front seats, custom embroidery and perforation. Came out great and really easy to work with.

Black leather, white lettering with red shadow. Back seats are done too. Sorry for the crappy phone pic. You can see the seat heater switches in the center console in the first pic.
