A "nerf" is a small, sometimes intentional, collision between two cars in which one driver bumps the other to facilitate a successful pass. The nerf bar protects the sides of the vehicles and also keeps their tires from becoming entangled.

    Something Tacoma's CLEARLY need:p

I just installed a set of N-Fab Rock Rails on my AC. I've never cared for the looks of most nerf bars. I like the look of sliders, but I'm not into off-roading, so the best option for me were the Rock Rails with the optional steps.

Second. They bolt to the body mounts just like nerf bars, but look like sliders, and are made of heavier steel ( A lot of the nerf bars seem to be a bit thinner material). I like them because I don't really need real sliders, but they stick out far enough to protect the door sills, and more ground clearance than most of the nerf bars or steps. They can also take a pretty decent hit from a shopping cart, car door, or occasional stump.

Dont forget to look on the westin outlet. You can get nice nerf bars for like 100 shipped when they are normally 380 plus shipping. Thats how I got my platinum ovals.
