I'm all nope nope nope on the kids thing. We've been talking more and more about the house. Ideally we should have enough saved to put 20% down on a 180-200k house by this time next year. Getting closer and closer to getting the venue paid off.

Venue? I'm just starting my "house fund" now, it's pretty scary lol but I can't wait to stop renting and have some real space and a garage. Mostly a garage

Wedding venue. And a garage is one of my very specific requirements for our house.

Oh, word. Do you know where you're looking for a house? Same area?

yea a house is a good investment. I couldn't see myself paying $1000 + a month in my area for a one bedroom apartment, so i bought a house instead. I pay $2000 a month (a little more than the minimum). I charge my 2 roommates $500 each, so that makes half my payment each month. After you add electric, water, gas, cable/internet, sewer, etc etc, its more than if I was renting an apartment, but only by a few hundred. As long as you don't go crazy with home improvements you can live nicely. or if you do go crazy with home improvements at least you should hopefully be able to sell for a profit or reduce utility bills if you're adding energy efficient shit.

I was paying $300 - $500 a month last winter for oil for my furnace. this year i'm paying around $100 a month on gas for my new furnace and like $250 for financing for it. so its a little cheaper some months, a little more expensive some months, but it'll pay for its self in the end. and now i don't need to worry about a 40 year old furnace crapping out in the middle of the night

Ideally the Hamilton, Robbinsville area. Right now it's about equal between our two jobs. We really like the road we live on and the area so we probably will look around there too. We both are pretty flexible commute wise so it all comes down to what we can find in our price range.

Yeah, I wish I could afford a down payment etc but I'm starting my first "real" job in July. I pay close to 900 for rent here in philly and I live in fucking squalor. The rent here is nuts since it's all Penn students and they jack it up crazy for shit hole apartments. I sued my land lord soph. year, it was insane. The house basically fell apart.

When I move to DC area (Arlington), the places I'm looking at are around 2300-2800 between me and the woman so around 1300 each. I'd much rather put it toward a house.

    Good luck

Pretty much impossible in the area where I'll be. I'll have a parking garage attached to my building though, or something similar.
