Idk if this seems low on 20" rims but in the city im getting 14-15 lightly pressing on the gas. Only going over 2000 RPM if needed.

20's are not helping, but it's the city driving that's the killer.

I run a great average in my 4-banger... but if I gas up when I get home Friday, after running around town shopping with my wife over the weekend (and this includes some freeway), my Ultragauge will be displaying 14-15 when I leave for work Monday morning.

Larger tires help highway economy, but they take already poor city economy and make it worse.

just did a mostly highway trip from my house at sealevel to 8000ft up (mammoth mtn) and averaged ~21mpg.

Cruising at 68-70mph is your friend... above that mpg drops off like stated before quite a bit.

Just completed a 6K trip from east to west and hell of a lot of in between. I checked my mileage at each fill up. The best I got was 21, the lowest was 18.5. I would say about 30% of that was in 4WD driving over snow.

Well I don't want too over think this , however like I said 10 mpg city ? Maybe a bit better than that . I live in a very urban city , lots of hills, intersections , real close stop signs and lights . I make a lot of short trips . Funny thing I never noticed the mpg on my 2002 tundra 4x4 v8 . Did not know what my city avg was , I should have stayed away from the tacoma mpg sites and just drive my truck and enjoy it .

Just put about 1500 miles on the taco the past two days. I averaged ~21 going 60-63, then about 20 at 63-65 and 18-19mpg going 70mph...

I also had a bed full of gear... but only about 150 lbs or so. Plus the camper shell.

I get about 22.5 - 24 MPG mixed driving. They are awesome trucks, I know i'm late to this thread but if you haven't pulled the trigger just do it. You won't regret and they are great trucks.

Per Fuelly, my 100% stock Tacoma 4x4 averages 16.2 mpg with mostly highway driving and a little city + a heavy foot on the 10% mandated ethanol mixture. I have not been pleased as about 2 mpg less than I was realistically hoping, but I did not buy the Tacoma for the gas mileage. I never get sticker gas mileage.

Tacoma's get bad gas mileage in my book considering the larger Ford F150 double cab with a 3.7L v6 averages the same. Toyota needs to step up it's game to compete.

Oh well, I still love my Tacoma.

+1, I doubt you could do that at 55 with a steady foot. Maybe riding 5 feet off the import bar on a big rig.

55 with a steady foot? Absolutely.
Maybe even up to 60 as long as you aren't bucking a headwind.

Same truck, same mileage so far. I've got a shade over 500 on the ODO. I know it is a truck, I know it is a 4x4, and I know it is a V6.

What I don't know is why the hell I was hoping for much better than 16-17.

At risk of you flagging me for slanderous banter I'm keeping the kid gloves on here.

1'st: Pretty sure your opinion (as valid and important as you may think it may be) does NOT apply here. Don't agree....take a good long look at the thread title...get up, go outside, and take a lap. Repeat. X2.

Word. I'll go hijack that thread...

What a great thread you've continued about your truck....

So you're an aerospace engineer? Wanna fix the jet stream and make it snow while you're at it?

I recently got the taco back from my old lady after a month of her VW being down (that shit gets 40 MPG) and have run a few tanks of non-ethanol gas. Result is a modest bump in economy. I attribute it to being that there is now an egg under the skinny pedal.

Beats having a 4 banger under there.

I've owned my '13 for a year now and my overall avg mpg is 19.5 (according to Fuelly). I drive 75% hwy / 25% city and typically follow the speed limit (+ 2-3 mph).
