No, they were pretty cool actually. They measured them and showed me where they measured and explained why, just incase I ever get pulled over and the cops pull out the tape measure, or if safety check station gives me a hard time. I even had rear mudflaps, but they never even looked at them. I got there early and was reading the list of things that would not pass, like the lights having DOT markings on them, and I told them I have all these rigid LEDs. They said to pull them off real quick. So I ran up to city mill and got a set of cheap hex wrenches and went back down to recon and started removing them, and then the guy comes over and said to just leave them on.
The front and rear bumper, and all the skids are made by pelfreybilt off road. More details in my build vvv

Since we bought our 05 the doors have all kinds of dings and paint smudges on them. I told here I should make some sliders just for that reason........too bad I don't have time right now. :(

Hi everyone...first post here. Figured this would be the best place for an 808 guy to make his first post in the forum. \m/

I'm Reid and have been wanting a Toyota truck back when they were just called Toyota trucks or HiLux's..sorry showing my age! Been through a ton of cars from sports cars to the VIP type and finally took the plunge into the Tacoma when the last car's upkeep was overtaking it's worth.

It's day 16 for me with my Blue Ribbon Metallic Double Cab...still running around with paper plates... and wishing I hadn't waited so long to get one of these. I haven't done much to it since picking it up at Toyota Waipahu with the black oval step bars, and RollNLock installed. I did have some tint put on at Pro Tint 30/10/20 percent front to rear. Got it rustproofed and undercoated at Car Care. Added a 13" antenna from AntennaX since I couldn't stand the stock one banging in the parking lots. Had the guys at Car Tunes Kailua install a Clifford with remote and SmartStart alarm system. Also installed black leather Clazzio seat covers the other day. Don't believe the videos with the guy who designs them slapping them on. Even with the help of a friend who's done it many times it took us 3.5 hours to install.

Been reading the forums for a bit now and like another forum I'm pretty busy on..this one could cost a lot of money per page of reading! Hope to contribute when I can. Aloha!

I want to do a spacer or block lift and I have many friends say go to auto customs to do it but need input from others. Along side my delaying and procrastinating was the fact that the new safety check maybe a problem. I've had my 2006 (suz toy) lifted with a fab tech and procomp set up with 32 swampers back than. Couldn't pass recon got multiple tickets and I really don't wanna go through that again. Any suggestions?

Many (on here) would probably push you against a spacer and blocks.... At the minimum you would probably get suggestions on going 5100s (height adjustable shocks) and a AAL (add-a-leaf), or longer coils and AAL.

If you are 100% road use, maybe the suggestions can be different, but if you ever thinking of going off-road, then most will shy away from a spacer and block.

if you REALLY want to cheap out, the bare minimum i suggest would be

    5100's - $309.00 shipped from Downsouthmotorsports
then blocks in the rear BUT, a single AAL will only cost maybe 20-30.00 more than blocks and is the much more recommended way.

spacers/blocks are not really that cheap (last i checked they wanted like ~430ish for the kit) and you can get 5100s and AAL for that.

I was able to get front and rear 5100's a set of blocks, 1/4 spacer and AALs for $350 thru TW and CL. I know I could've paid a little more for brand new but brand used is good enough when you're ballin on a budget! Now I jus gotta get my tires, refinish my wheels and put in some work on the install. I think that's a good start to this obsession.
