Isn't there a negative rep button? lol

Anyone else hate tailgating? Got this pair of LEDs on Amazon for 32 bucks shipped. Killer deal.

    What haven’t I changed?
I meant a button that just clears out all the rep for that person. Probably a mod-only thing though.

lol yeah. I'm a mod on t4r, you can just edit their "reputation level" but no one really uses reps over there

Glad to hear it. I was debating those instead, but these will be mounted inside the truck and I wanted something that won't obstruct my vision at all. These are bright for what they are (18w) and should keep people with their brights at bay. Hopefully they will have enough power to get through my rear window tint and still be obnoxious

can you give me an example of how owning a house is a worse investment than renting? All that article says is that houses aren't guaranteed to be a big return on investment.

There are different price ranges people can rent, but on the whole I believe it's more expensive to rent than to own a similarly sized home. Or maybe not always more expensive, but close.

I guess your not old enough to remember the entire financial market being brought to it's knees due to overinflated housing prices and how that in turn devastated almost every single homeowner in the country dropping prices double digits so people like you could buy your house last year cheap

Most American homeowners are still under water.

What proof do I need to provide besides a financial crisis :notsure:

It's called a housing bubble and in merica it will bust every single 10-20 years like clockwork so I hope you sell when it's at the peak and don;t get fucked after it busts.

& I'm not saying this is true in every instance..... there will always be exceptions and the majority of propaganda will sway people into buying houses.

The real question one must ask yourself is why do they want you to buy so badly? Why do Americans say owning a house is the key to becoming financially stable? Think about what happens when you buy a house and start a 30 year mortgage.

I have a great report saved on my home PC Ill post up that provides unbiased reviews by accountants that debunks the myths and made me open up my mind.

I was thought the same as you do now ten years ago when I bought my house.

Yea I understand that the economy goes up and down. There were a few houses I looked at where the owner owes more than the house is worth.

But you still haven't given me a reason why renting is smarter than owning?

Because if you rent and the economy takes a shit you aren't the one losing the value of the house? Well what happens when you're renting in a recession and then the economy skyrockets and the house is now worth twice as much? You don't think the owner will raise your rent?

I'd rather own a house and sell when the economy is high.
    :notsure:

Even if you don't sell when the market is high, it's all relative. The market will stabilize again. You're just bitter because you bought when the economy was at a record high and then dropped to a record low.

    That is a good deal

I have a friend from high school who used to think renting was more beneficial than owning. Back in Sept, the owner of the place he is renting sold the house.

Now he is renting a smaller house (with oil heat) for $1300 a month, $200 than what he was paying.

It cost him about $2500 to move in total (loss time in work, 2 storage rentals, moving truck & appliances) He got his deposit back but he had to put it back into the deposit of the new place.

He would love to buy a place but with his rent, it will take hima while to save enough.

I'll take my $1049 mort payment (before taxes) over all that bullshit.

My reasoning in buying a house was never for financial gain. But rather an investment in piece of mind.

    Just like an other investment!
    Well said!

Now that Ive decided on tires and just awaiting funds, Im now in search of sliders. Everyone has their preference and I will surely have mine, but until I pick a set.. who has the best sliders in your opinion? Who has the best price? On the fence of bolt on verses weld on...

Hey I'm not trying to sway you. You already bought and are already under the spell. What are you on year one or two? Wait till 10 or 20 and we shall talk again.

All I'm disputing is that you think and are telling others it's a good investment and the truth is typically very far from that and my statements are backed up with numerical facts not propaganda.

Give this paper a chance and read until at least page 4. If it's not for you stop. if your interested in the truth continue on.

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fma.org%2FNY%2FPapers%2FLessons_from_30_years_of_Buy_vs_Rent_Decisions.pdf&ei=AenmUtitIqq-sQTj_IJo&usg=AFQjCNHiREuZ_LTaNcFidrOmGWkzPG9rAQ&bvm=bv.59930103,d.cWc

If you read the paper and want to know more give Reuters a shot at what they think about the data.

    http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2011/07/20/rent-vs-buy-datapoint-of-the-day/

You can search all over and see the paper is indeed referenced all over the place any many companies that pride themselves on telling people how to properly invest will agree and reference it's data.

As always there are exceptions to the rules/data.
