I like the idea of increasing the weight... what's the most dense material we could put in a standard envelope that's cheap and won't make a mess? (Sand would be annoying, I would think.)

How about a small rock? Increases width and weight.

Nice, I might use that. How about a piece of 1/4" steel plate just big enough to fit in the envelope?

I meant the sand would be annoying for me. I'm all for annoying them, but not if I have to clean up my counter every time I do it. The steel plate is a good idea, but I don't want to buy a bunch of them.

About 10 tubes of superglue in there could cause a problem if the envelope was modified to let it escape when compressed and then fugg up the machine, other mail etc..could be some support to stop all of those Junk mail prepaid offers.

You can always stop the mail. Not as much fun admittedly, but better for the environment.

I used to receive a lot of junk, so used to call each one up to get them to remove me from their lists. Keep a record of which one's you've done and hit them with the facts if they haven't removed you. Now I get very little.

I've been doing this off and on for years now. I think sand would be the most fun though for any machines they may use to open the mail... I just don't plan on keeping sand around my house.

I also miss getting telemarketers calling my house now that we're on the Do Not Call List. Usually I'd just pick up the phone, answer, and when they start to talk, tell them to hold on while I get "the person [they] need to speak to. Put the phone down... walk away. They get the hint after a couple minutes. Sometimes if I were bored back in college, I'd actually start conversations with them about other things. Anything to waste their time.

    re: telemarketers...

When my brother was little (like 7) he told a telemarketer that our parents weren't available b/c they were "dead and in the freezer." He thought it was funny.

A week later, my parents' credit card was cancelled. When my dad called to ask why, he was told that they received notification that the card user was deceased.

If you put a small amount of liquid glue in the bottom of the envelope there automatic openers wont be able to cut open the encelope making them do it by hand
