Finally going to try to get a lift my tax returns this year! I off road almost every weekend, nothing too crazy, but enough that my skid plates look like they have been through a war. I'm wanting to be able to put 285/75/16's on new rims underneath the truck post lift. My current leaf packs are shot so i will be getting new leafs also. My budget will be somewhere around $1200 range. Anyways hoping for some input from you guys with experience, but heres what I'm thinking so far: or
http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-lift-kit-with-Bilstein-5100-Height-Adj-Coilovers_p_364.html and get new springs with this one

If you have the money get the OME so you can get the new leaf pack. The AAL is just a bandaid.

Be ready to buy new UCAs to get your alignment right. Both lifts are good options. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
I'm payint A LOT this year so no new gadgets for me this year.

Most people just run the OME Dakar leafs. No need to AAL the Dakars unless you're looking for a lift over 3" or so... which i wouldn't reccomend.

The new leafs will give you the lift, no need for an AAL.

so far, URD throwout bearing kit(sleeve), weathertechs, 285/70/17's on Ion 17x9 and OME 885s and Dakars and nitro sports. BHLM
I love my OME. I like to deal with wheelers and all but the best deal I found on the OME kit was at headstrongoffroad.com with their good shipping rates. I would check around for shipping first. Email wheelers and they'll get you a quote. Good luck and post some pics when you get it on.

I'd give the same advise. If you want a typical 3 inch lift, I would get something that has new springs that provide the lift, so you don't preload the springs with shocks like 5100s. Makes the ride stiffer. Also, new UCAs on anything that is over 2.5 inches so you get a good alignment so your truck doesn't "wander" going down the road. May need them below 2.5 inches but depends on your truck. I'd just make sure your alignment is within specs.

How would one know if the lift is coming from the springs or the preload?

Not only did I go with the new UCA for the alignment part. I went with them as the old UCAs were rubbing on the coils in different stages of flex.

Save the money and do it the "right" or "complete" way. Full OME, new UCAs, and Dakar leaf pack.

thanks for all the replies, getting closer to knowing exactly what I want, a few more questions.

Sometime down the road I will most likely be getting a plate bumper, should I go with the 886 coils?

Do I need the carrier bearing drop?

I know toytec does, but will wheelers assemble your struts for you?

Do I need extended brake lines?

    Shims?

    Thanks

Get adjustable coilovers so when you add a plate bumper and other stuff you can compensate for it.

most around here went with 886 with plate bumper and winch. I have just an 8k lb warn winch on the front of mine with the Hidden Winch Mount set up and 885s. Works great.

As far as the carrier bearing drop...I left it off at first but did feel the vibes. I put it on and it reduced it a lot. still feel a split second vibe on take off but not bad at all.

You only need new brake lines for a lift over 3 inches.
