    :spy: i'll be waiting'

One can only wait and see what happens. CVT tents look pretty damn good in person so you'll def be getting a good product comparable to everyone else's RTT

Nice! I wish they made the Autana in ruggedized orange form. I'd get it for sure!

I'm just waiting on the other half of my W-2 from my TDY travel this Summer. It was all non-taxable pay, but I still have to have it to fill out some extra parts. If it's anything like my sisters after her full year in the military, I should be able to get the bed rack, RTT, and many other add-ons :D

    Subbing another RTT thread... SMH

Going to be a big-ticket item to get my overland build closer to completion. Luckily the wife is on board for the purchase because we can go out as a family :D

All good points. I'm not sure how long I'll have this tent and how many people I'll need to provide a tent for haha

I hope I don't feel like I'll break one... I honestly want one just for the orange...

A lot of the smaller stuff I have been sneaking into the budget and purchasing over the winter. Searching the F/S threads on TW for good deals, etc. But the bedrack and tent are going to hurt the wallet for sure. I think I'm going to have to buy a good chop saw and dust off the old Lincoln arc to save some money.

Rumor has it that CVT is planning another group buy. There is a guy in the Wa/Or BS thread that clams to have spoken with Bobby, the owner of CVT, and been told this is already planned.

I would be interested in hearing from RTT owners on why they chose to mount the RTT on a rack over the bed versus on a rack over the cab.

I'm likely going to go with the rack over the cab setup to start. Reason being that a roof rack seems to be much more affordable than a bed rack. I'm a broke ass post-college student with god awful loan repayment monthly bills, so I'm looking to go a more affordable route.

That said, I'm still interested in why RTT owners chose 1 method over the other. I think if I had the $$$ for a desired setup, I'd go with a bed rack mounted RTT. I hope this is the correct thread to ask this question.

I know in some cases cog and resistance has something to do with it. It would be easier for sure to go on the roof, unless your taco is like mine and has no roof rack channels.

Yeah, having a bed rack will be better of aerodynamics depending on how high the rack is. I also want a rack to store things on other than just the RTT.

Strength? Cab mounted racks are only good for 200 lbs or so. Put on an RTT and you're almost at max or slightly over. Add in yourself, a sexy lady, bedding, and you have grossly maxed out a roof rack. IMO, no bueno. Seen it done, but I wouldn't.

I'd hate to feel what that amount of weight up high would do to your rig. I built my rack to be even with my cab, and will be lowering it when I get time.

I'd imagine that without a dedicated pulley/lift setup for your RTT, you'd have a heck of a time getting it on and off of your truck if you mount it above the cab. I'd be afraid of dropping it and blowing out a window/denting my roof.

Further; don't see putting that amount of stress on your roof rack as a good thing.

I always put a ratchet web strap around my tent/rack.. I'm really reluctant to trust the aluminum track mounting system in the event of a hard turn, fast stop.
