I know I can pull 24-26 (probably higher) out of a 4x4 v6 6-speed with my commute all summer long, 22 winter.

How are you measuring your mpg? Odometer (or trip computer) miles divided by # of gallons you use to fill up your tank? I don't mean to call you a liar, it's just that I've read a lot of posts where people use less-than-precise methods to calculate their mpg.

 

I know how to calculate mpg.

 

only had my truck in cold (november) and freezing temps yet.
So first tank ever was 19.5 above freezing, then the temps tropped so it is at around 17.5 right now with 2400mls on the truck total.

I expect it to be in the 20-22 range for summer

yah i find that hard to believe too, i get 22mpg solid on my 4 banger regular cab. 1 mpg over what they say the truck should get.

 

I can get 35+ in the summer with my truck rated at 25 highway, 26 seems pretty easy with a V6 rated 19 highway.

 

damn that sounds really high. I admit i could get more im sure if i wasnt driving like a demon in the morning trying to rush through traffic and accelerating hard from stop lights. For me ill never reach that high tho because i have zero patience lol!

 

Patience is my virtue. But really my commute is 45-55 mph and 10 miles, I can't really make much of a difference driver faster and the I4 isn't ever gonna be exciting from the stop light. I accelerate aggressively but shift at 2000, wringing it out to 5000 isn't fun or efficient.

 

I seem to be getting only 200 miles per tank on a 13 dcsb 4x4... Maybe its the cold or maybe its the remote stater I let run 20 or more minutes before I drive it each time... Who knows

 

^same minus the letting it run for 20 min. I don't understand it... My light just came on at 194... last tank light came on at 233... Only running 295/7017 STTs... my previous 05 had 285s on it and I routinely got atleast 260-280 before the light came one. What gives?

 

Brake hanging up somewhere? Bearing? etc?

 

Only 200 miles? Seems really bad to me, the worst I ever see is about 280. Also, WHY 20 mins of idle? That's excessive, no?

 

That motor probably burns about 8-10 gallons per hour at idle cold. Add up those 20 minute idles and that's a fair amount of gas. If you're doing it to warm up the engine it's doing more harm than good. If you're doing it for heater comfort then you're just spending money for comfort and I understand doing it.
