Found it. With all the Tacomas on the road, especially nice and borderline illegal ones, cannot be there's not an 808 sub forum on here, lol.

I see that you guys, and gals, are talking about lifts and it's just what I need. Mind if I jump in for some advice?

    Want or need...

Wondering what everyone with a 3" lift on the island is running and corresponding tire/rim fitment, while passing Recon...Been through recon but I'm still a virgin when it comes to lift...hoping to learn from the masters.

I'm running 5100s with OME 884s (with top plate) , dakars in the rear, and UCAs. Rims are 17x9s, with 265/70/17. Passed recon with that combo and without the need for extended flares.

Glad you finally found the 808 page.

I have OME with 886 springs and Bilsteins with Dakars in the back.

You can get a decent 3" lift a bunch of different ways too, varying in cost.

You should be able to fit up to 255/85/16, 255/80/17 without rubbing on stock rims, 285/75/16, 285/70/17 may or may not rub/need fender trimming on stock rims depending on alignment settings and front lift.

The 265/75/16 and 265/70/17 are a common "happy medium" choice that won't need any trimming while still gaining up to 1" or ground clearance without needing gearing.

What width and offsets, does is matter?

Also, is there a recommended or preferred vendor, as I plan on doing the install myself? Was thinking about the OME's from Toytec but read conflicting stories, as most states that UCA's are not needed, but some say it depends. Did you need to get some on yours?

If you want to go full 3" I would get UCAs. It'll also help if you ever want to go to 33" tires. The UCAs will bring the tire farther away from the cab mount. I don't have an OME lift, but that was the one I wanted originally. I hear great things about them.

Where did you get your lift kit? I thought the 884's were for std and xcabs, while 885 were for DC. What would you recommend? Just wondering cuz was looking at the Toytec website and that's what it states. Also, were the top plates needed to make the full 3"? One more, did you purchase the 5100's separate, or did you get them in a kit? Thanks in advance and to all. Appreciate all the help.

You can read for days about this..... 884s on my DCLB pre lifted me right about 2.25" didn't need UCAs. Then added in the top plate to give me the full 3" (maybe a hair over). For some reason a 4x4 DC is a bit heavier than a pre. If I needed to do it all again, you can do the 885s, and the smaller top plate and get the same results. My build is the perfect example of a gateway drug... started with just 5100s and block, then 5100s with AAL, then 884s, then 884s with dakars, then added the 13mm top plate and UCAs. Sliders come in soon, just because... my wife would probably agree that I have an addictive personality. I would make a really bad druggie....

    Oh boy...
Who here has done locker and gearing? i just spoke to 4wheelparts and they were quoting me $4000 on just Regearing front and rear and adding an ARB air locker in the rear. That just sounds insane to me. Might as well supercharge my truck for that price. I just wanna know if anyone has done it themselves or has any better experience with this.
