I have recently acquired a Century cap that I was told belonged to a first generation Toyota Tacoma. I have tried putting this cap on an extended cab and a regular cab. It physically "fits" on both beds and lines up well. The trouble is the fitment on the cab.
On the extended cab, the curve of the cap does not match the curve of the cab, leaving a gap at the top.

On the regular cab the curve of the cap and the cab match well, but the height is not the same. The cap is about 1.5" shorter than the cab.

Also on the regular cab the window of the cap is about 2" lower than the window in the truck.

I've heard they make window boots that seal the cab to the cap so you can heat the cap, etc. With this cap that type of a setup seems impossible which leads me to believe it is not a tacoma specific cap.

I have called the manufacturer with a serial number hoping to get some more information. They told me that the serial number was too old to lookup in their system. I called the dealer where the cab was sold (there was a badge on the back), they also could not look up the serial number.

Someone told me the cap could be made for a Nissan king cab.

Can anyone give me any insight on which truck this cap is specifically for? To me it seems like the windows should line up and the height of the cap should match the cab, but correct me if I'm wrong. I am new to Toyota's so any insight or info would be greatly appreciated. It is a nice cap in great condition, I just want to have some accurate info on it so I can sell it without wasting anyone's time.

    Thanks!!!!

Edit: This is the cap in question.

Century cap specific for a Tacoma xtra cab. I'm not sure what your's was supposed to fit.

Honestly, it's too damn tight to the cab and it's been pulled back to the point where the rear door hardly seals against the gate. It hits the cab when the rear axle starts hopping around.

    BDN,
Does the window of the cab line up with the window of the cap?

In that second picture, is that some sort of a pad or liner between the cap and the cab?

    Thanks for the reply

This is just a trim piece.

The cap sits on a 1/8" foam strip, might have been 1"-1 1/2" wide. Sticky on one side only and I stuck it to the canopy so it can be removed.

    Interesting. Thanks for the replies!

Does anyone have a Tacoma specific cap that does line up with the cab's window?

I wonder if this is a Century specific character?

I've never noticed the windows not lining up looking through the rear view, I can see fully out through the back window. I never noticed until you mentioned it.:)
