First Post / Ready to Lift

Firstly, I have consulted multiple members about their builds and opinions and I thank you for your help!
I'm only posting to help verify my choices..

Looking to do the following to a 2014 DCSB TRD Sport
- this is my daily driver
- only off road on trails for hunting purposes
- only looking to pull small boats and trailers
- getting rims and tires from local shop (discounted)
- all installation is going through local shop
- I do prefer a slight rake (1/2 inch or so)
- do not want to spend more than necessary (no UCAs etc)
- goal is to trim as little as possible if not at all to get 285/70/17s (most likely Goodyear DuraTracs) and
- ProComp 5001s 17s

1/2" of rake and you have a 4 leaf pack I'd get an 1.5" AAL or 1.5" block, the alignment is hit or miss really, the only way to know is if you can't get the caster in spec after the front is done.

 

Any other comments?

 

Good choice on the wheels! I have 5100's all around, front set at 2.5", and stock coils. No block. I dont recommend a block lift. I tow a trailer periodically and it does just fine with a 2" AAL in the back.

 

Go with 5100's set at 1.75 and Icon progressive leaf pack.

 

Would this be a cheaper/equal alternative to the ICON?
Seems most people on TW stand by their products.

It's a little more for a leaf pack but the leaf pack has a better ride.

 

Thanks. Probably going with the Icon after the advice and further research.

I am now between 2 versions of the same wheel.
Which is less likely to cause rubbing?

Wheel Size: 17x8
6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
Offset: 0
Backspace: 4.5

Wheel Size: 17x9
6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
Offset: 6.6
Backspace: 4.75

The wheel with the 4.5 will position the inside of the tire and the wheel further away from the spindle and upper control arm, so it would be less likely to rub. backspacing is kinda tricky because it's backward from what you would expect. as an example, if you have two rims of the same size with different backspace, the wheel with less backspace will stick out of the fender well more. welcome to TW !
