Looks like Atlanta handled 2" of snow as well as they would handle a zombie apocalypse

We had some snow overnight here in the FL Panhandle, mostly laid on rooftops. Our cars covered in ice, and since I don't own an ice scraper I used a spackle knife lol

Our little town is shut down. Reminds me of when a hurricane comes to town. Even the snowbirds are hibernating. The bridges are closed so I can't get off the peninsula to visit my job in the north county.

    What a bunch of wusses.

I guess everyone at work was told to go home at about the same time. What did they expect?

I was talking with my dad for about 4 hours (thankfully I have a VoIP app that lets me call the states for free from Korea) while he sat in Atlanta traffic yesterday. He said that everyone was sent home at the same time, instantly jamming the highways and surface streets. That's what caused the real problems... And as traffic increased, the snow melted on the streets turing them into ice.

Here's a picture of my parents house when my dad finally got home. He was in the car for 9.5 hours total.

My baby looks soo cold in the corner of the driveway... I miss her and my pup, but looks like I'll see them both in August for a few weeks :D

Thats what happened here a couple years ago. The Springfield mixing bowl became a parking lot. The Federal govt let everyone out at the same time and the volume of people just overloaded the road system. The plows then couldn't get through to clear the roads and it became a standstill. Since then I believe they have changed their dismissal policies.

Sucks about everyone in Atlanta. I just saw a report about that. I like how the Governor and Mayor where blaming weather forcasters for not calling it. Al roker on NBC news just layed out the time line of the forcast. Winter storm warning in effect for Atlanta 8 hours before storm hits. LOL.

Alabama politicians be like "Blame the weather man! They didn't warn us soon enough!"
And the weather man be like "F#*k you, I'm Al Roker. Here's a timeline of us warning you."

Hey guys, I live here in Birmingham and I watched the weather channel and local radar. Saw the possibility of snow was good, so we started early to get to are customers and make sure their pool equipment was covered and on. Then I got a call from the school at 10:58am stating school is closing in 11:30am, then, at 11:28am school called and said, some buses will not be able to drop off kids (hilly routes). All the parents freaked out, try to get to schools, and most of them have no idea how to drive in snow or on ice. Lot of them started slipping and just left their car in the middle of the roadway, so no one could get through. It really pissed me off, because I know how to drive.
I can't believe how many people blamed someone else, because they were stupid and did not payatension to the weather. Because of them, we didn't get home, but did make it to the inlaws for the last two days. Couldn't get out of the neighborhood, because of all the cars blocking the roads in and out.

My computer here at the office has a primitive form of autocorrect. Pre-coffee me typed "Alabta" or something like that and the computer corrected it to Alabama.
And I didn't remember to fix it.

This thread wasn't here last year. Here's some pics from our storm last February. We had 34" dumped on us in about 12 hours. It was nuts.

I didn't get stuck that Monday on my way to work but had I, I wouldn't be looking to blame anyone. It's the weather, you can't control it and yes it sucks sometimes. Took me 9 hours to shovel my small driveway and help my neighbors do theirs.

Yeah that was crazy to see all those cars abandoned. It was a fail all the way around.

Only good thing is that this will be a great learning tool for next time something like this happens. I bet if that is predicted again then the roads will definitely be treated early.

That's awesome! I always hope for that kind of snow during winter!
