The proper way to do it is not go off in the first place

 

I drove my 5 lugger through 4 snowy winters and never once went off the road. Ice and all. How do you go in the ditch on a straight road anyway?

 

because no one has even seen snow before...ive seen it twice in my life once in 1989 and then in 2010 when i went to philly and neither time have i ever driven in it...

This is my fourth winter with my 2WD Ranger. All it takes is knowing how to drive properly. I have 240 lbs of sand in the bed and snow tires. Only time I've gotten stuck in 4 years is when I was backing out of a buddy's driveway and drove off the edge into a 3' snow drift.

 

It's called common sense. It does wonders to overall success in life.

 

Sadly, common sense isn't so common

 

I love how people up North treat Southern people like they're idiots when it comes to driving. I do agree that there are people that just shouldn't be driving, but how do you expect somebody that has never pushed the limits of their vehicle, let alone in snow/ice conditions, to know how to react?

Now I've never wrecked or gotten stuck because of snow/ice. But I have been in the situation where I began to slide and couldn't do anything about it. I was lucky enough to slide right up into somebody's driveway instead of the 6 feet ditches on either side.

 

The same way you did when you learned snow driving for the first time... Did you crash? I didn't. I drove slow because I didn't know what I was doing. You don't push the limits of your vehicle if you don't know how to drive it in the current conditions. That's how you kill yourself and others. Like I said, common sense.
