    OK so two things -

    1. Already know I should get rear springs. Lol, pretty obvious starting point, but trying put one project to bed before I start this one. Would better springs negate the need for the bumps? Should I hold off until the springs are in?

    2. How do you test up travel without getting dangerous? All I can think of is Darwin award solutions :p

    1. well...your springs now could have been weekend by not reaching your current bumps, causing them to hit negative a lot. Which is a starting point for new springs a bumps.

    2. Really just lift one side, and see where the point of a completely flat pack or just a bit before. Take note of that measurement and get bumps about 1/4-1/2 longer then that measurement. with that said I know i ran across a thread here with the "correct" way of doing it, but ehh :rofl:

    Lol they are pretty flat already. They also have a weird thing going on where you can see daylight between the leafs

    I would think that bump stops would be a good idea no matter how much lift you have. Springs won't negate need for bump stops at full up.

    Ramp at 4x4 shop to test flex maybe.

    I'm no expert on bumps and haven't even upgraded mine yet.

    But I do know that you want to contact your bumps right before you bottom out your shocks (full compression). This is the case on a stock setup.

    It's really about protecting your shocks more than anything. Just like at full droop, you might need limit straps to engage just before the shocks max out. In a stock setup, the leaf springs usually max out at full droop before the shocks. But larger springs might be limited by the range of shock travel.

    So any kind of lift will require new bump stops. Just need a safe way to flex out the suspension for measurements. Loading dock ramps, forklift, travel index test ramp, etc. A bottle jack with 30" of wood blocks would get me on that Darwin list!!

    Take part of one of my home made ramps apart, stack the other one on top and that would be a solid 26" of wood. Tough part would be getting it set up under the truck.

    Thanks for the link, rob! I will say it was a bit hard to follow, but I will put heads together with some of the guys up here to analyze. Tallon did his crazy shock upgrade and might need to tackle this issue as well.

    Arty, I just worry about driving up a ramp and having everything tip over. Never tried doing that maneuver so not sure if there's a clear danger point or if its sudden.

    When you drive up a ramp (or back up), you keep 3 wheels on the ground. You stop right before you're completely in the air on the one side. So it's fairly stable still.

    Using a forklift is common as well. Like this:

    So in the picture ^^^^

    You can get measurements for full stuff and full droop on the one side. Then repeat in the rear.

    There's some really good write ups on this somewhere. I started to research it a while back. Maybe on TTORA.

    Just make sure you don't turn your wheels while flexed out on one. I did it trying to check for clearance like a dumb ass and sheered my cam bolt tabs off and knocked the truck way out of alignment
