Is this going to be only the 2005-2011 Version or will it fit / have you created a 2012-2014 version?

so in the next couple of days when we see those pictures, will you be posting prices as well..... or make us wait for the group buy? Out of curiosity how long do you think production of one bumper would be after all the fine tuning is done..... I know its been a long time coming so just wondering how much Fab is done to make one Bumper?

AFAIK this is only the 05-11 mount, unless he's got the 12+ up his sleeve

Well, we have a final design. I'm big on functionality and the main purpose of this thing is to carry a winch, next...or perhaps equally important is durability. This bumper, for better or worse, is a direct reflection of my take on what a winch bumper should be under the design criteria.

I tend to overbuild things because I tend to be kind of hard on said things. I tried to eliminate weight where I could as long as I didn't give up strength. The opening is about 8" wider than the FJ so it makes for a pretty wide piece, which means more steel. The fascia... hell, this thing is a skid/bash plate, has to come down a bit further than the FJ which means it needs deeper gussets and more of them since it's wider.

Then you have the factory recovery point which we discussed here a bit. I decided to open up the hole all the way to the bottom so can still attach there if you want, however, you really need to cut the other side too even though there isn't a recovery point... symmetry . Plus, because we brought the skid plate down to meet the factory plate and subframe it wouldn't hurt to have some drainage. There is also the possibility of using the openings for some recessed trail lights... maybe.

    IMG_20140130_100444_494_5f383f4a74a711c2ff66354c46bfa835b0dfac43.jpg

Obviously the shackle mounts are not installed in this pic.

See a bit better what we did here.

So then there's the gussets, I'm a big believer in this thing taking a beating off road as I've smacked the nose on every decent 4x4 I've ever owned and this protection has paid off with on the FJ for sure.

Plenty of room for any winch and space enough to carry no telling what else on each end. We will have light tabs off set from the side enough to install 6" lights IF you can find some that are no more than 3" tall. As it stands our Sirius 2" LED's will work perfectly as they have 3" housings.

Either way, plenty of room and drainage.

It's going to be heavier than the FJ as it's simply wider and takes more steel to make but still should be under 70lbs compared to the FJ's 57lbs.

We will have pricing in a day or so. The first production quality mount should be ready next Wednesday then John and I are going to do a full install on his truck after that. I'll start the group list before that but won't be taking any sales until we do a full blown installation with a winch. I want to make sure I have detailed install docs before I offer this for sale and take anyone's money. I also want everyone to see accurate photos of the final version with everything as it will be for purchase.

    So, we are almost there.

This baby may require a name... Battering Ram or Key to the City or something.

Thanks. Keep in mind this is all mockup stuff and tack welded together but at least you get the general idea. Finished version will be all welded and better finished.

Awesome Brad! That thing turned out freaking amazing! I like how you took it one step further and added some innovative improvements over the "competition".

You should have absolutely no problem filling orders for these, congrats on a job well done man!

As far as a name goes, I have a few ideas:

    Mighty Mount
    Power Plate
Overland Expedition (or Exploration) Mount (OEM)
    CamoMount
    Die-Hard Mount
    The Brute
    ReCover-E, (re)Cover, Covert Ops etc.

...okay my ideas are getting too cheesy. Better quit while I'm ahead :p

    Great Job man!

Or maybe I'll simply call it TFB a Tough F%c&ing Bumper.

On the other hand, Tacoma Winch Mount Bumper is just fine too.
