    Tiger coil is great. Of course flavor is subjective but I think it boosts flavor.

    where did you get the phoenix v5? link? I like that drip tip on there, did it come with the phoenix?

    my trident v2 clone was $27 from this place (free shipping) http://activape.com/products/cartos-attys/trident-2-drip-atomizer-clone.html

    I'm also a Rip Trippers fan. Dude is hilarious.

    looks like i'm ordering ribbon wire soon. :D
    i have a russian 91% on the way. might try a tiger coil on there

    yes the drip tip came with it.
    the reason i like it so much is the o-rings are really tight so the top doesn't come off unless you want it to. and i didn't have to drill the air holes.
    i'm really hard on my pv at work i treat it like any other tool in my toolbox.

    if you want to build dual coils they have a v6 with 2 air holes. but the top on it is really loose and i had to drill the air holes out . its in the middle of the pic i posted earlier.

    http://www.hoosiervapes.com/Chinex-V5-RDA_p_222.html

    i just noticed on their website they have the v5 and v6 switched from everybody else

    i really like this site too. they compare prices from different vendors so you don't have to spend all day looking for the lowest price.

    Just ordered a Russian 91% yesterday, and it should be here Thursday. It's my first RBA and I can't wait to load it up on the VTR. I think I'm going to cut off the top retaining ring on the VTR and polish it smooth so I can fit the Russian on it. Also picked up the iTaste 134 and it should fit famously on that giant dildo of a mod.

    I'm so ready for custom coils. I love working with circuits and small electronics so this should be fun.

    How's it hitting for you? What drip tank is that, and what's the mod? I don't recognize either.

    Ok cool. I'm not versed enough in RBAs to know what the Trident looked like by memory. I'll get there.

    Does the mod take 18650's or something smaller? I keep 4 of the Panasonic 3400 mah 18650's charged all the time. I kill one in 12 hours on my MVP because I vape like a fiend at work and on my drive. One time I killed a fully charged 3400mah in 4 hours! Single coil tank, too.

    I've been running the iClear 30s tanks for convenience, and that double coil hits like a beast. It came with the MVP so I might as well use it. My work hates it because it sends plumes up to the ceiling.

    Yeah my friend here in town has the Russian 91% RBA and loves it. I'm getting a tutorial on coils tonight after work so when mine gets here I'll be ready. What I like about it is that it has a 4ml tank with a window. I don't want to drip and drive because that's a pain in the ass.

    Fuck it. Build them yourself. You can buy the flat and round wire anywhere for cheap. That's the beauty of RBAs... coils can be built for pennies and if you use cotton for your wicks, one bag of cotton could last for months for $1.50.

    I ordered 30' of 26 gauge kanthal wire for $8. Do the math at about 2" of wire per coil, and that's about 180 coils out of one box, or $.04 per coil. You could make 20 mistakes and still be cheaper than buying pre-made coil cartos.

    Tons of great YouTube tutorials. There are a million ways to wrap a coil, but in the end they all need to fit between the posts and not short out. The key is in getting your diameter and your wrap count dialed in so that your ohmage is where you want it. Vapor Kings sells a sweet little $15 stand-alone ohm reader that's great for bench work so you don't have to mount your RBA back on your battery mod to test the resistance.

    Some people wrap their coils around a specific diameter piece of metal like a drill bit. Some use machine screws so the coils line up nice and straight, and you just unscrew the screw out of the coil leaving a perfect design. Some people use jigs to hold everything while they work, and some guys freehand it. I like the precision method of making jigs.

    That looks like the "Private mod" by Grand Vapor Mods. Grand Vapor makes excellent products if that is the real deal and not a clone. But even still, China clones are still good ... just look for copper connections and an adjustable 510 pin so you can fit any atty flush on the device.

    but... that RBA is definitely not the Trident v1 or Trident v2. It looks like an Igo-L to me.

    The trident v1 looks like this and it's air flow control is slightly different than the version 2.
    [IMG]

    The v2 uses a ring on the outside to select the air flow while the version 1 has the airflow holes in the top cap part.
    [IMG]

    Both Trident versions use a flat head screw that goes over the posts, with slots in the post to connect your coils vs. little holes in the posts.

    The Igo-L looks like this
    [IMG]

    It has two posts on the deck, is this what yours looks like inside?
    [IMG]

    I hope they didn't rip you off saying it was a Trident b/c the Igo-L sells for $9

    IMO I think 28 gauge Kanthal is a great wire size. You can always twist them to get a thicker wire for lower resistance. For clearomizers like the protanks I think 30-32ga works better on your vv/vw devices. On average you'll use 6-8 inches of wire per coil... depending on the diameter that you wrap around. 5/64 drill bits are considered to be in the "micro coil" range while 1/16 and smaller fall into the "nano coil" range. The length of the wire will determine overall resistance... the bigger diameter you wrap around will increase the total length of the wire, thus increasing resistance. For example, an 8 wrap of 28ga around a 5/64 might come close to the same resistance as 12 wraps of 28ga around a 1/16 (just hypothetical numbers).

    And speaking of rebuildables.. just so you guys know the difference....
    RBA = ReBuildable Atomizer
    RDA = Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer
    RTA = Rebuildable Tank Atomizer

    The Russian 91% falls under the RTA category. There are other tank-style atomizers called "genesis style" (aka genny) that have the tank below the deck and typically stainless steel mesh is used to wick. I think the genny style atty's are starting to fade out with newer RTA designs like the Kayfun/Russian.

    Anyone getting into mech mods and building coils NEEDS something to test the resistance of the coil(s). Whether you use your Multimeter or buy one of the testers they sell on vape stores, you MUST check your resistance. It's the only safe way.

    The importance of battery safety cannot be stressed enough. DONT BE A DUMMY!!! You need to understand your battery's capabilities and Ohm's Law. Build safe guys, just cause you see it on YouTube doesn't mean your coil will be the same resistance as theirs. When you get into sub-ohm, a .1 difference is huge.

    on a fully charged battery (4.2 volts)
    .5ohm coil will draw 8.4amps @ 35 watts
    .4ohm coil will draw 10.5amps @ 44 watts
    .3ohm coil will draw 14amps @ 59 watts

    and so on... you can see how much .1 difference makes. The Sony US18650VTC4 is one of the "safest" batteries out there at 30amp max output...that does not mean you're 100% safe. Shit happens. Manufacturer defects, damage while shipping, misuse, bad charger.. could have affected the battery and something bad could happen. Just be safe guys. Read read read and read some more.

    ya they didnt really know what they were talking about in the store. i just figured it was a igo l to . ill most likely be ordering a trident v2 clone like you suggested. and will most likely be doing more extensive reasearch

    Got my Russian 91% yesterday and started building coils. I bought some 26 gauge kanthal and built my first coil with it, but it was .9ohm but I still gave it a shot with an organic cotton wick. Hit like a truck but I chain vaped it too quick and burnt up the cotton because I didn't have the breather adjusted right to keep the wick wet enough. Built a new 2.5 ohm coil out of some 30 gauge and threw cotton in it and it vapes like a freight train with no burning. Here's a shot of it on my VTR. I have my desk fan blowing across my desk and up to help dissipate the massive vape clouds at work.

    Running it at 5V and 12W, with the breather on the tank in the most open position.
